Re: Gold Coast California Fun Run - 11/07/10

Well planned Julian! Mynor and I both followed your return route through Santa Barbara and then turned off at the 126 to head over to Santa Clarita to drive Little Tujunga Cyn Road from top to bottom. It helped us avoid a lot of traffic on the 101, 134, and 210 with an added bonus of the adrenaline ...

Re: Gold Coast California Fun Run

Ted's right. There were some really fun roads up there. I'd be in. I installed my temporary transmission a couple weekends ago. It should hold up, if not I have AAA :)

Re: CORRECT MR2 STRUT INSERTS

you should contact either Datsport or Techno Toy Tuning, they may have the bushings you need, way easier than cutting and lengthening the tubes...... The other problem with the MR2 inserts is the threaded end. It's M14 and Datsun is M12ish. So unless I buy some camber plates, I don't think Datsport...

Re: CORRECT MR2 STRUT INSERTS

I figured most people who convert to coilovers don't use a stock style upper insulator anymore, and that's why it's not a issue to pretty much everyone but me. I always have to be different. I'll probably end up lengthening my struts to use the 280zx inserts so everything bolts together. =/

Re: CORRECT MR2 STRUT INSERTS

Thanks Richard. Are guys making bushings to cover the area that is turned down and drilling out their insulators? From what I've read it appeared to be plug and play, besides cutting the strut body.

Re: CORRECT MR2 STRUT INSERTS

Got pics! I did some research and asked a few questions before I bought, but I didn't know the shaft end would be different. . . The first picture is of a 280zx insert, the second is SW20 MR2. http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/8619/280zxbz3038inserters3.jpg http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/3458/s...

Re: CORRECT MR2 STRUT INSERTS

Thanks Byron. The external nut is correct. The difference is at the threaded end of the of the insert itself. The zx inserts have a shoulder that's slightly smaller od than the polished shaft and is about 1.75" long. That's where my problem is. The thread at the end of the insert is larger as w...

CORRECT MR2 STRUT INSERTS

Quick question for the Realm. I purchased some Tokico Illumina BZ3126 rear strut inserts for an sw20 mr2 90-95. The entire upper threaded area is different. Did I get the wrong mr2 struts for 510 application?

Re: 15x8 rear wheels with 225/45-15's

Well the fronts are 7's so I'm planning a 205/50-15 front and 225/45-15 rear. For tires I'm leaning towards the Toyo R888, the NT-01 is a definite possibility though as well as the Toyo RSR, and you can still get the Hankook Ventus HS-2 is these sizes from Tire Rack. If I can get the car to handle p...

Re: 15x8 rear wheels with 225/45-15's

Well if you have already rolled the fenders and the 16x8s are working fine, if your new 15x8s are the same offset then they will work no problem. I wish it were that simple. You see, as the wheel diameter decreases, the negative offset has to increase because of the shape of the trailing arm. Addin...
