The Newest '73 510

I thought I'd start this post for general knowledge. We have a pretty good group of people here to do a survey over. There's been much discussion over the years about the final production date of the 510. Let's keep this post clear and to the point. We are looking for the newest, highest serial number 510 here that can be confirmed. We are going by the production date tag on the inside of the drivers door jam only. Insurance papers are not reliable; as the deals in this time were able to register the cars on the date they were sold, not on the production date. Please stick to production dates only.
The ’73 I have came off of the assembly line on the 9/72, S/N 423435.
It has the backlit wiper/headlight switches (green), and the back lit heater control panel. It also has the engine room plate that reads 100HP.
I'm sure I remember at one point seeing a 3/73 production date on a car, but I do not know where that was, and I can not confirm this anymore or back it up with a S/N. The only other '73 car I know of is that of Bert Vorgon. Maybe you can confirm your cars here, with chassis S/N's, and we can put this to rest for the final production 510 in existence.

Ummm... Frenched, do you mean 12/72 by any chance? What's the VIN#?

If anyone has an engine plate that says L18 I'd also appreciate knowing that one also.

Thanks

frenched510,

Is it possible to verify your doorplate production plate with a photo posted here?
I have seen one 03/73 production plate, and I've also read that there were no PL510's produced after 04/73. What is your VIN number? Can you also post a photo of the engine plate and SN on the firewall? If you post these, then all written material I've got my hands on would be incorrect; you'd have the proof.
BTW, those repo engine plates don't count, guys!

Byron, I seem to remember that your old schoolmate Brad Zimmerman (Haney Performance) mentioned that his old 510 race car was one of the cars originally equipped with an L18. Maybe you should give him a call about that?

11/72, VIN 425945...100hp, backlit knobs and heater control (flat face), rear defrost, and reclining seats (worn). I've also got the original warranty card and owner guide/service log thing. I should dig that out.

I wonder what serial number range went to BAZ country. It would be nice if more put their numbers here, if anything, just to see if there was some sort of pattern to distribution of the cars. I think Yenpit had a number that was in the 430's, he is the closest to my production so far, and he is down south.
