No...that rest stop was at the top of the Coq., this rest stop is at Merritt.

Forest fire smoke is trying to push back South, I hope I get clear skies in some of the scenic spots. Sure thick over the Cascades and the San Juan Islands at the moment, can hardly see either out my window.

This shot is at the Aspen Grove turn, skies look good.

To confirm I will be starting my drive from the Hope Chevron at 7:30 sharp!

I should be there a bit after 7 AM.

On the odd coincidence that anyone else might be driving on Saturday...Have a good one!

The Interior still looks not too bad, as we get further up the Canyon and across to Aspen Grove, slight haze but not like here, this is NUTS!

We have family just outside of Portland and they have been given a Level 2 Alert to be packed and ready to flee one of the fires there. They are very scared!

If anyone cares to read about WHY and how our fires are getting worse, and the impact on our Northern forests and Arctic( let alone fires like down south right now), this book SHOULD make you worried. As I have traveled a LOT through the mountains and North, that have had massive fires, I have seen the change in plants, animals and trees, totally changing the environment and the relationship that they have had pre-fire.

Lots of fluids will be key for this drive, it is to be 30 C. in Merritt.

So, I think my plan to meet up with my brother in Ashcroft is a go. Likely I will need to fuel up in Hope to get an idea of the mileage I am getting.
A fellow working with me came through Spokane on Monday via I-90. This is the look from his car.

It takes about 2 hours from Hope to Ashcroft, plus any kidney breaks. So, I should be in Ashcroft in that 9:30 - 10.00 window. I will park across the river in the Safety Mart foods lot, across the street from the firehall.

This is on the main drag right after crossing the bridge on 97c.

Well Keith I will not be making it out on my planned drive. The smoke is really causing me some issues with this whole breathing thing that I am pretty attached to so I am going to be staying in the garage for the weekend....and installing some solid mounts for my rear crossmember.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?

No worries, I/we have been in this before.

They have thrown out the smoke warning to the Interior now, I do hope it is not too bad. I think we will be fine once up the Canyon.

It will be what it will be...maybe less on the road :D

I'm loaded, lunch made, car at the door ready to go.

Departure planned for 5:30 myself as I also need a few things at the Safty Mart. Glad there’s be a couple of dimes on the road, makes me feel better about the drive.

This was the scene only a few hours ago... not what I’d planned, but I didn’t expect to find this.

Full story later what I have time. Gave me a chance the clean under the steering box, I think it was well overdue...
