1 wire alternator for a 510?

Post by paul97 »

I am installing a universal wire harness in my 68 510 and I am looking to install a 1 wire alternator and I was wondering if anyone has done it and which alternator to buy that fits best with the least modifications.

Interested in this--- have had some weird issues with both my KA alternators. Got it fixed on the truck, but the 510 still has a draw coming from the alternator and it has to do with the 2 wire plug. I think it comes from the one wire from the plug that is supposed to go to a charge lamp, but I am not running one on either set up.

More specifically to your car Paul - when I was running my L motor I upgraded to an internally regulated Alt that if I remember correctly came from a 200sx which was basically a bolt in affair. That was before my re-wire though.

Thanks. I found out somewhere else that an alternator from a 95-97 D21 pickup is also a bolt in.
