2020 510 Day - Covid 19 Drive
2020 510 Day - Covid 19 Drive
2020 510 Day - Covid 19 Drive
As a sign of the current times, I'm planning a Covid-19 friendly, 510 Day drive.
And yes, it’s Mothers Day; do please bring them along if they’d like to join us.
The weather prediction simply could not be better - and man I sure need to get out!
Muster Point - 12:00 noon departure from the parking lot to the east of Red Robin
22701 Lougheed Hwy
Maple Ridge, BC V2X 2V5
The plan - East out of Maple Ridge via Dewdney Truck Rd. and over the Stave Falls dam.
We’ll go around the backside of Mission, east Richards Ave, South on Doyle St and almost immediately East on Stave Lake St turning into Dale Rd. We’ll take a right at Sylvester Rd and turning left onto the Lougheed Hwy out to Deroche - where we'll stop and take in ice cream and beef jerky on a nice hot day.
That plan is only the first hour. We’ll take a consensus on where to go from there.
- Could make it short and come back through Mission
- Could be around Sasquatch/Harrison Mills, Agassiz or Harrison Hot Springs
- Could continue and cross the Fraser at Agassiz and come back on the Chilliwack/Abbotsford side – open to suggestions from those that show up
It’s a short, small outing for the Covid afternoon - late start & an early finish for one of our usual adventures.
But let’s get out there.
I’ll be bringing up the rear, and I’ll be in Ole Blue with my wife and daughter – and plenty of water to wash back the 30 degree day that’s predicted.
So Who's in?
I look forward to seeing those braving the wilds, and actually getting out there!

Re: 2020 510 Day - Covid 19 Drive
Sorry gang, going to have to miss this. My wife is having a brutal time with recovery from full knee replacement, last couple of days were bad after doing some walking, don't want to leave her for the length of time even this short drive might be. Hopefully this round of pain will pass in a few days.
Next week I'm HOPING to do a nice easy cruise out the south of the Valley, just to shake car down.
Have fun, be safe, hope traffic is not too bad being Mother's Day. Beach in White Rock today is littered with people.

I'm out also. My wife it taking the option to not parent for mothers day. If anyone wants to do another drive sometime soon I am in. I'm looking forward to stretching the Angry Smurf's legs.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?

Morning World!
What a beautiful day, be thinking about you and the wonderful sound of 510 engines running! Sure was good to hear mine fire up.
Looking forward to see how the display is on the new AEM wideband, did not have it hooked up when I fired the car.
Today and tomorrow look to be the last of our good weather for the week, so enjoy the day. I guess I won't be out for a bit yet.

Re: 2020 510 Day - Covid 19 Drive
Had a great day with everyone today. Fun cruise on some roads that I had never been on.
Re: 2020 510 Day - Covid 19 Drive
Turnout? Pics?
Been a steady stream past our place all day, LOTS of people out.

Re: 2020 510 Day - Covid 19 Drive
We had 11 cars turnout, 6 had wives or passengers which was great.
I was so happy to see people in general - I forgot to take photos when we all stopped! Hopefully someone else took better photos!
People were generally practicing social distancing, and we drove some nice local roads. It was a beautiful day, and there was other cars Out there also enjoying themselves - but we were simply in cruise mode and that worked fine for the car I was driving!
At the Red Robing In Maple Ridge, we were:
In this 510’s;
Glen B
Dave P
Byron M
Mark R
Mike S.
Ron S.
240Z;
Gagan S
Roadsters;
Karl J
Dan W
Mitch J
75 Celica
It ?
We followed to route - more less of to Mission. Mitch to the lead at that point in his SR Roadster, and took us up the the Mission Abby - I’d never been there. Mitch had intended to stop, it there were so any people there, that we just slowly cruised through the parking lot, turned around and drove back out!
From Deroche, we headed up to Aggisiz, over to Chilliwack all through back county roads, joining the #1 at the Vedder Canal and headed back into Abbotsford, across the Matsqui to Mission and back into Maple Ridge.
We passed a number of groups of bikes and cars. Of special note was this group of British car guy, all dressed the part and looking like fabulous old men in their caps and shiny cars - giving us the biggest waves on the way by - of course we were returning the favour. Very cool.
But cool out side, it was not. A cooker of a day, the 1l of water I carried wasn’t near enough!
I was joined by my wife, daughter and dog. And I took Ole Blue.
As my wife mentioned her request to take Ole Blue in Friday, and saying she wanted out daughter to join us - I went into a cleaning frenzy - I’ll update that elsewhere. But the car hadn’t been driven since 2015!
But Blue did fabulous the end, we all really enjoyed the day. My wife said if I were to take this car more often, she’d join me more often. My daughter Said she’s is fine with the ear muffs and in the Bronze...
Great day, great drive- and the only moving pictures I took!
The day even ended great when I filled up the tank late last night before the car turned back into a pumkin. At one point we were paying nearly $2 a liter. This might not have been the cheapest 94, but I sure wasn’t complaining!
A great day, and I look forward to the next one.
More photos from anyone else?
