G'day team, owyergoin?
I'm from Australia and just bought a rolling shell-of-a-shitbox 510 for $6000 because that's how we do things over here.
It's a 1968 Datto 1600 sedan. I like having the '68 because of the suicide wipers.
All the Datto's over here have terrible price tags and are in terrible condition. I feel like I got pretty lucky with mine, the guy I bought it off was generous and honest. He gave me a bunch of spare parts, new bushings, and both a standard and shortened driveshaft.

First up I took out the booster because it was rubbing against the strut tower. I had to work around the pedal box to move the booster 5mm over.

I scored an L16 for $200 of unknown condition. Well the water passages were totally full of gunk.

Alright. Sorry for the stack of pics.
The editor was deleting pics if I wrote too much and then I had to delete post and go over it again and my enthusiasm to keep writing the same spit vanished.
In a big hairy nutshell, I got new pistons, did all the bearings, opened the block and blasted out all the built up ecosystem living in it, honed the cylinders, got the head done, showed you how I put the piston rings on, all the gearboxes I have, a bent old piston, Datsun cam cover, uhhh taking the block to the carwash! (onlookers loved watching me take a block out of the boot and drive away with a filthy car).
fuck yeah, Datto.

Honestly I thought I had WAY more pictures from the absolute hectic WIRING mission.
I rewired the headlights, parkers, and stop lamps with relays and bigger fuse box. There was a really strange setup where the stop lamps wouldn't work if the high beams blew, or something, so I just redid the lot.
I put in seperate fuses for left side lows, right side lows, high beams, light bar, parkers, etc. If you can understand my wiring diagram, you'll see that I used change over relays for the high and low beam Outers switch over

Car definitely looks the opposite of this at the moment - new rear shocks new springs ass in the AIR

And I started her for the first time EVER a couple days ago.
The brake system I plumbed up is failing, the booster I tried to refurbish is leaking, and the fittings I bought weren't good quality. A Tee piece is leaking, anyway I've decided to re-do the front brake lines and buy a MadDat booster setup once I save some dollars.
Regardless, I took her for a hoon up the road and it was sick. Except the custom make do throttle linkage got caught on a bolt and was stuck open. So I was in a car without brakes that was revving around 4k trying to do a U turn. Send it!

As you can see, I'm trying to do a good job, but also doing absolutely everything myself. So there are a tonne of things that aren't being completed too. Like moving the dipstick. My dip is dipping the front, when I need to be dipping the rear. The amount of Carbon Monoxide I inhaled today isn't allowing me think of anything else.
