Dash Mounted Speaker

Post by JasonLee »

Has anyone out there found a suitable replacement speaker for the original one mounted in the dash?

I am in the process of replacing an after-market CD machine with the stock Datsun AM radio, and have decided to go all the way and run it to a dash mounted speaker located in the stock position. The original one in the car has turned to dust over the years, so I imagine that this is a very common problem for all of the original speakers out there. But a new speaker that has the correct size / shape and resistance should work like a charm. I am betting that someone out there has gone through this upgrade before.

Thanks!

AM730 is the only station I am interested in to hear where the traffic problems are. Other than that, I prefer listening to the music under the hood.

I am the same, first thing I do when I get into my G35 or Honda is put 730 AM on, to see where the mayhem is, has saved me a few times from going down one of our insane traffic corridors.

Vancouver radio is crap anyhow!

Jordon's right.....that is the music under the hood.....

Over here in Santa Cruz there is a company that recones speakers all the time for the music industry. They also can get creative. I am sure you have the same support up there for musicians. Check it out. It would be nice to use the original frame etc.

3x5 speakers are no longer available....like many other parts. I plan on using a 3", or maybe a 3.5", and MDF cutout to sandwich it to the 3x5 mounting posts. Most 3" speakers have a depth of 1.5", so it should be alright. Hope this is helpful.
