Headliner is finally in. Now to install the rear window and front windshield. Gonna install the rear one first since I have it in storage. Then drive over to Tracy and pick up a windshield from Ermish racing. Wish me luck on the glass install.

Finally found a back seat for my car. Thing was a total rats nest. Unfortunately I dont have any photos of how it look before I had it reupholstered.
Not completely original because they were bare frames but I love how they came out.

Few updates Ive been working on. Mocked up the oil and water lines for the turbo today. Oil drain from the turbo was a pain due to the design for the turbo manifold. I had to make my own drain pipe and tig weld it. Other than that it will work.

Replaced the pilot bushing with some good old fashion bread. Also replaced the rear main seal not picture.

Got a new adaptor to finally install the oil pressure sensor for the speed hut gauge.

Transmission mock up with new cross member mount. They old one put the trans to high inside the car and screwed up the drive shaft angle. This one worked fine.

Imagetransr by v p, on Flickr

Mocked up the B&M shifter as well.

I have to widen the trans tunnel a bit. The transmission is rubbing a little. Now that I removed the trans I can start with that.

Finally got the motor back in. I tired by myself twice but couldn't manage to get the mounts to line up correctly on the new V3 JBC cross member. Finally with a little insight from James himself via FB messenger and my buddy Jose guiding the engine and playing with the mounts it went in... Very tight fit also the Nismo mounts are not as forgiving as the factory S13 mounts which made it a little more difficult. Lots of loos ends to track down and take care off. Progress is progress. Waiting on my s13.4 valve cover to come back from hydro dipping.

I have to make a new oil return line. The current line I made interferes with the steering rod that connects to the rack. James suggested a 45* elbow worked for him. I had an extra 45* fitting laying around, worked perfectly.

Got some Wedge brackets in today for my Evo 9 MR Recaro seats. They are good quality for the price and come nicely powder coated. I will upload some photos of the seat once I get it all mounted up.

Photo with the seat in the car mounted on the brackets. Still haven't made the new holes to the chassis yet for the seat bracket. I wanna grab my center console put it in the car and measure everything before I drill.

Today's one of those challenging days where you just wanna give up. Its been 6 years and tons of money that has been sunk into this project. Feeling a bit discouraged. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel but every time I feel like I'm home free the tunnel extends and the light is further pushed away. Its always one thing after another. Sometimes I wish I would have done my home work and bought a project that was complete and not missing every dam thing. Gonna keep pushing. I want this thing moving under its own power this summer.

For what it is worth...you are NOT alone. Hang in there!!!

Time and setbacks are very common with our 510 projects. In my years of playing with a 510, I had some MAJOR setbacks.

The worst was in 1978, after finally getting my 1972 510 running great and competitive, a young fellow ran me off one of our mountain highways, totaling my car in 5 seconds. I was devastated.

You are taking your time to build a very nice car and will reap the rewards of your labour!

I feel your pain. My coupe took 3 years and it's a piece of garbage compared to your car! Wait until you take it for the first lap around the block. It will all be worth it. The last little push is the hardest. Once you get it on the ground and running that's when it becomes real.

Yeah but its a coupe! So much better looking in my opinion lol. But yeah man I hear you. Ive been offered, some good cash as it sits. I cant see myself selling it. My 6 years and 4 year old sons are absolutely in love with the this car. Just having one of those days. What would I be teaching them if I quit? Gonna keep pushing. Thanks for the kind words man. At least the steering rack is done lol.

Finally mated the transmission to the engine. Just have to raise the motor and trans up and bolt it in. Difficult job to do by yourself. Either way major progress for me.

Do you have another thread covering body and paint or just this one?

It looks like a bag of hours invested but closing in!
