That's a good one James :-D

Well, I just finished stuffing 260 envelopes for those attending. 220 pre-registered, and 40 more for those that show up - 260 entrants will be the cap as I doubt we'll get more than that into the park!

With 15 classes this year and a pile of trophies, it proves to be a fun event.
The tug of ware will happen, along with some family games throughout the day. Hardeep is DJ'ing for us again, and we managed to scramble together a dozen or so volunteers for ballot counting and parking.

You guys that are parking, meeting at 7:30 and you'll get your free event shirt.

Richard is at work tonight printing off a parking map and organizing the trophies. Both of us have spent all day running around, but it's tidy up stuff - admittedly we are getting better at this. Richard has a couple boxes of shirts for sale this year, and has had made some very cool AJC key chains for every entrant - you choose from the 5 different colours, voucher is in your package which you'll receive at the gate into the park. Also an updated version of the AJC decal will be in every registration package. I think we spent in the neighborhood of $2500 on trophies alone, and Richard - as usual- has outdone himself again with the design. And this year they are a powder coated design featuring the island of Japan inside a maple leaf, with the show particulars cut into the circumstance! They are very cool, you'll have to see them. So the two guys above don't have much left to manage into that offshore account :-)

The 510 is packed with the show materials, ready to head out at 6am top Waterfront Park.

For those that can make it, I'll look forward to seeing you at the show.

Byron (and Richard)

I don't think. If I give it to him, we might not see it for a while. Ha!

Could've sworn I gave it to Jon and his diesel wagon but he says no. Hmmm..... Oh well, hope it shows up tomorrow.

The dawn seems to be coming late.
Headed out shortly to start set up in the park for the show.
Weather report: Awesome followed by damn awesome! It's going to be a heck of a show again this year.

Richard and I are looking forward to greeting those that are attending. We'll be at the main gate => 200 Esplanade, North Vancouver BC.

YES, that was a spectacular show, with fantastic weather. Thanks to all those that put that on and the volunteers.

I will post up some pictures later today.

My rant for the day...I am so done with Vancouver traffic. I hit the traffic at the grain elevators, with stop and go the whole way to the bridge feed on, the Knight street was just stupid with it's lack of timed lights, what a joke. Even though my water stayed at 170F with the fans on, the radiant heat from the exhaust had the inside of my car at 110F with 140F in the engine bay below the rad. It just does not work in Vancouver any more for traffic flow.

I did go for a bit of a drive to the end of Knight street in Richmond, then back on 6 Road just to cool things down a bit. James arrived a few minutes behind me and we tucked things safely away in the bat cave till next time. That was one of the hotter drives for me.

Yes it did, I made a prediction some years ago, that in 5 years we would be virtually gridlocked most of the time during the day. I am now into my fourth year from that prediction and I am very close to that. #1 has multiple accidents daily, the Iron Workers bridge gridlocks because of that stupid merge north bound, NONE of the merges work any more...too short and drivers do not know how nor care to "zipper" properly. The traffic coming out of South Surrey is staggering now, with continual construction of 200 unit town homes, 32 Avenue is DONE, totally under designed for the traffic load now. The Sea to Sky is insane on weekends...and on and on. I am so glad I am retiring soon, as it will only get worse and I am done with the #99 commute as even when I leave, it is now almost as bad as during peak commute times.

Hi all - what a great show yesterday. We had roughly 40 more entries at the gate and with 220 pre registered. About 30 didn't make it so it about evened out as far as attendance goes.
As for space, we still had plenty. A couple groups were really packed into their designated space, especially the nostalgic Toyota and Nissan groups - we will switch things around a bit next year to give that group more room to breath :-)
Otherwise the show went off really well. Social media feedback was extremely positive - in fact not a negative comment - except for Berts traffic issue above which is a bit beyond our control here on theRealm. A few of us went fro dinner after the show right there in North Vancouver and traffic moved along well for my trip back home over the Iron Workers, through the tunnel, out HWY#1 and onto Hwy 7 to Maple Ridge.
It was great to catch up with a whole lot of people I haven;t seen in a while. the gate wasn't the place to chat as we were rushing to get the 250 cars into the park in about 9 minutes. the system worked pretty good - feed back is always appreciated.
The awards went well, and Richard again outdid himself with the design of the trophies. This year power coated - pretty cool.
Behind the scenes, ballot counting was a huge chose. 20 classes, 4 keystrokes per class entry - 16000 key strokes to enter the data! It took hours to get this done, and only my wife Joyce and Glen's with Wendy were doing the task - we'll work out a better solution for this next year.
Speaking of Volunteers, the day would not have been possible without the small army of parking attendants. You guys did awesome. And Hardeep for being the face of the show again in the DJ booth, keeping music going and doing some games. I pulled my weight in the tug of war this year - I think we'll find a longer rope next year as many wanted to participate - this was fun! Kids games will also expand, as we'd love to keep this a family event.
I'll post results of the awards here tonight - I'd better get back to work.

Anyways, what an enjoyable day and thanks to all that attended - what a great day. Photos to follow.

Byron, I thought it was really well done and the exiting went very smoothly, as everyone took their time to get out in a staggered fashion.
