The 510 Realm

This was on the Sea to Sky yesterday, listen closely to the people talking, saying how who ever was driving kept losing control, then "gooses" it and whacks the concrete barrier's four times before the fire.

This was a rental company that rents these out for a "scenic" drive, all of the so called exotics. A very young woman accosted me at the Langley car show, asking if I would like to rent one and go on one of their drives. I said: "No Thanks, I already have a very fast car! And besides, you cannot drive them truly fast so why would I want to spend that sort of money to fart along the highway!" You would have thought I spit on her, it was really funny. I think they are so used to people going gaga over these things, that one someone does not, they are almost offended.

I question WHY, would that rental company, on such a shit day as it was yesterday, give the keys to someone who has likely never driven anything like that, with ZERO skill.

That is two I have seen burn up now, which also makes me question WHAT is in the design that lets either a fuel or oil line fail like that, to cause such fires. There was a massive multi vehicle crash yesterday in Kamloops, that totally destroyed three vehicles...no fire....

Supercars tend to burn in conditions where standard cars might not because they're often made with carbon fiber (which will burn), epoxy resins to glue the CF panels together (more burnage), and run engines that, due to the higher specific output, are much closer to the combustion temps of said CF and glues. And it's not just an Italian flare for life (Lambos, Ferraris), as German cars (the GT3 RS) have also gotten hot when the heat was on.

I have plenty of pictures of torched 510s, though, too, which have no CF, not glues, and no HiPo engines, so...
