So, on Saturday afternoon, I blasted out to the Pitt Airport, where Specialty was allowed to test Collin and Dave's GT3 240 cars. These cars were built by Andy and gang and have campaigned very well over the years. With the runoffs being close to home this year, the guys are going.
If you have never seen a professionally built tube frame race car, these are a prime example of the ART.
Over the summer, these cars have totally been pulled apart, everything rebuilt, with a spare engine to go down also. Andy spares attention to every detail.
The plan was to just run about 20 minutes to bed in brakes, break in the new motors...just see...that all is good. These cars are amazingly quiet, with Andy's custom built mufflers, and still make over 300 HP.
Things went well, with one suspect rad leak, but it was nothing. Collins wide band started to go funny, and when he came in the car would not start. battery was low...HMMMM...turns out alternator was shot and not charging...WHY WE TEST!
The Team is off on Wednesday, for the trek to Laguna, with practice and qualify during the week, with the race on Saturday October 11th.
Also, we have some CDN's running GTL, Jim Hargrove and Paul Bunbury. Our American 510 guy, Troy Ernish is running this class also. I will be torn between rooting for the 510 guy, and our CDN contingent. I used to run against Jim in the Solo wars back in the 90's.

Enjoy the pics, I wish you could hear the cars, and actually witness the speed as they accelerate. I have seen these cars at 155 MPH at SIR, very impressive.

Man, those intake restrictors are tiny! It's amazing they can make the power that they do sucking though such a small straw.
I have been contemplating going down for at least a day. Unfortunately the two classes I really wanted to watch (FF and GTL) all run on Friday. I might still run down there though. Anybody else on here planning on going?

Yah, it looks as small as my Weber 32/36...I think the restrictor is either 31 or 32MM.
It would be interesting to see what these Ka's would make for HP un-restricted now, as Andy has worked some internal magic on them, to keep them competitive.
