The way I see it is this. If your asking 25k firm for a Datsun 510, YOU WILL need a hell of a lot more information, pictures, history and so on otherwise it's going to be a whole lot less. Other than that, that's one clean 510 fersure.

Quite a few cars have sold more than 15K, even going back to 2007 and prior. While I've not seen an L-series 510 sell for over $20K yet, that time is coming. It may even be here, given what people who've seen Terry's car say about it.

By many accounts Terry's car is exceedingly nice. But Lou is correct, this for sale ad, if it can be called even that, doesn't support the asking price. If Terry's banking on word of mouth from those who know what is car is, they don't need the additional pictures and words required of an unknown $25K 510. But if that was the case, why the ad in the first place?

If you're trying to reach a larger market Terry, you're going to need to make a proper ad with descriptions, pictures, etc. All the posts following your OP are here because your OP is lacking. Just trying to help, though of course you won't see it that way.

Someone asked me what it would take to take it off my hands and $25,000 is the number. If you guys think I am nuts for asking so much then to Fuckin bad. If people can get $1000.00 for a bumper then I guess I can't really be that far out of line. Look at your 510's and ask yourself with all the time and money invested what would it take to buy yours, a whole hellavalot... I thought so.
I built as a cruiser. I didn't have intentions of racing it in any way and doing an engine swap wasn't of any interest. Without the SR, Big brakes, race suspension it gets plenty of respect. Remember old school is still cool.

Good luck with the sale. $25k 510s are going to be a reality soon. Just takes the right buyer.
Not may 510s done to that level. Yours looks super nice.
I hope you get it.

Yah, I would pay that for that car. I watched this whole build, and, If you put ANY value to your time, to have this level of detail and cleanliness, this is easily worth that.

Look at all the the projects on this site, rust lurking everywhere, body work to be done, bits tracked down, cobbled together whatever...and you still have a 3,000.00 car.

I'd be proud to take this to any car show, anywhere.
This is on the level with Bike Papas and BYron's memorial build.

Very beautiful job on this car, incredible attention to detail and "rightness", well worth this price to a person who doesn't do the work themselves and wants a classic. Better then 95% I've seen.
BUT you can get a lot of car for 25k nowadays, VW, Mazda, Ford, etc. etc. You would have to rely on passion or certainty that this market is good going forward.

don't forget if you buy a new vw,mazda ...for 25k you will lose 1/3rd the value in depreciation over the first two years

nice to see a real price on quality work....and if you can build this car for a half the asking price let me know so I can put in an order ;)
