Cakes

Post by Byron510 »

Hi All,

Thought I'd share this for the air VW cooled fans out there. A good friend of mine has always wanted a purple Bug, so since it was her birthday today - I did want I could. :D

This is for you Jeff and Alp (and probably many others)...

I presented it this afternoon - and the cake was well received.

My daughter’s cake this year in August was a fabricators special.
She asked for a butterfly, so I built one out of stainless plate and rod, and then built a cake on top of it. In the end, she has a stainless butterfly for her room.

It's that birthday time of year again..

My son picked out this toy, which inspired this train - The EMD Areostar. A flop of a train (underpowered, rod like crap, noisy as hell ect, ect), but it was a design exercise, and it was the first passenger train to have single axles on the coached to cut down on rolling resistance and track noise and it was the first train to have air ride suspension.

Anyways, my cake rendition after roughly 10 hours of work.

But I know there are some train buffs on this site besides me that would enjoy this.

Bloody hell my wrists are killing me, i have to figure out a better way.

But they are all packed up in my trusty rubber maid containers and ready for tomorrow's party at the working model train museum in Burnaby. They have a couple od gauges of ride on trains for the kids – 7 ½” I think. Real steam tomorrow would be a treat. Most of them are propane boilers, but one is an actual coal fired unit, but it “makes too much steam: according to the guy that took me for a ride on it earlier in the year, so it takes a special hand and few are willing to operate it.
I reckon the staff at the museum will appreciate the cake more than the kids. I'll leave it behind if there are leftovers.
