If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?
Re: 2.3L of fun
This is a great build thread. Coupla questions I didn't find: is the engine a 2360? What intake manifold are you using?

Re: 2.3L of fun
The engine is "around 2300" as Andy put it. The block is stamped with SE2300 so I assume is is bored out special for Andy. I have a long runner cannon intake manifold. It is a very tight fit for the carbs unless you turn the brake master as mine is.

Re: 2.3L of fun
Speaking of the break turn or cantilever bracket you have, do you have another? I would like to perform the same magic turn also in my 510

Re: 2.3L of fun
Byron can probably make them. I think he is the one who made them originally.

Re: 2.3L of fun
I think Graham Ramage (the transmission guy) was originally involved in that project.
Re: 2.3L of fun
Hi guys, I did make a few of these many, many years ago. Norm, when your car was being put together by Andy, he did approach me for a bracket as he’d see the one I made on Malcom’s car. But in the end Andy made yours on the same design.
And Rob, I think you’re right, Graham was involved on one as well - independently. But I don’t recall who’s car it was.

Re: 2.3L of fun
Well the winter projects on the car are almost done. I will post soon what I have been doing all winter and during our Quarantine.
I found a nice spot for all of my stickers also.

It all started with a fuel pump....
Sometime last summer I decided to change my fuel pump for an in tank Holley pump. They have some really nice in tank conversion pumps. I got the version that comes with they Hydramat. It eliminated the need for a sump and all you need to do is make a 4.5" hole in the top of the tank. I finally got round to it in the fall and am really impressed with it so far. It is way quieter than the previous pump and has a built in fuel regulator so you only need one full line.
I have also been mulling over changing the car to efi. Possibly getting better fuel economy and better driveability was a real draw. In December I decided to pull the trigger on it. I ordered a Link G4 AtomII from Mike and a set of Jenvey 45mm ITBs from the Jenvey dealer in Maple Ridge. I also ordered a bunch of Deutsch connectors (including a 31 pin bulkhead connector), LS1 coils from rockauto, AEM map and intake temp sensors and a ONESIX Industies cam/crank sensor and coil pack mounting bracket......hey if you are going to do it don't half ass it right??
In January I got started putting everything in the car. It was pretty slow going and I learned a lot along the way. March rolls around and I am still not done. It is hard to get much completed when you are only working on it 1 or 2 hours a week. Along comes covid. I find myself at home all day every day with lots of time to work on the car. By the end of March I have the car running pretty well and am working with Mike's tuner Bill Bowering to get a drivable map into the car so I can get it into the dyno at Mike's and Bill can work some magic on it.
This Thursday I got it on the dyno at Mikes shop. Last time it was on the dyno it made 179 on a hub dyno. Mike's is a roller dyno that is way more conservative....10 to 20% more so I was expecting high 150s to low 160s. First pull out of the box with Bill's over the phone tune it pumps out 164. We are both pretty surprised. 5 or six more power runs and it hits almost 171. That is equivalent to between 188 and 205 on a hub dyno. Bill spent the next few hours working on driveablilty and smoothing out the curve. First drive in it and it is a changed car. Foot to the floor at 2000 and it just lights off and goes. About 4500 it feels like a turbo kicking in. I figured out I need to be a bit more careful in the corners. Torque at 4500 is up a huge amount and she just wants to light the tires up if I drive it like I did with the carbs.

I also added a tablet running Realdash to give me a better idea what is going on. It is totally customizable and runs off of the link tuning port.

Very nice Norm, lots of tech in there now!
