I now have a good GPS speedometer I can see, so I'm ok to go first.

I'm heading over the Duffy tomorrow at dawn, so I can give a good road report also.

Ron and Chad, are you guys going to come? This will be one time where you have to do the extra driving.

I have a couple of excellent GPS apps on my Dell and my Samsung, one gives you a nice HUD display on your windshield!

I was thinking for you and Chad ( no sense coming to the plant), we will be coming over the Iron Workers, that we will meet people from the northern corridor at that gas station just off the highway in West Van, where we have met up before. I will get the name later...it's early.

We can do this two ways: go really early, to miss ANY traffic, or, a bit later, and just deal with whatever. Later maybe being at the gas station, say by 6:30. That would have me leaving the plant at about 5:15.

We sure won't have the tourist traffic to deal with. What Matt and I have noticed, is that for the trip BACK, traffic has been bottle necking at the stupid light at Brittania, backing up to the lake. Now, that was at the height of summer, so who knows now.

No sense killing ourselves, we are out for a nice cruise on this one, and, should we get some clear road on the Duffy....it will just be a blast as usual.

Keith, Im going to give the car a good going over on the lift and a short run on the highway to see if the new alignment is a go. I’m planning on going :) as long as everything looks OK on the car. I will know more after this weekend.

Morning Gang!

Back from the wilderness.....

Duffy Lake road report:

NEW PAVEMENT!!!!!!!

So, the highway is good from Darcy to the top, not much winter damage, this is on the "old, new pavement".

Then, just past the Lake, there is a whole new section of billiard ball smooth pavement, must have been done early summer, as it is still black. The old pavement, is only for the last 1/4 of the trip, and that was not the bad section. A few good heaves to watch for, but, not like we are going fast... . One of the single lane bridges, first one I think, has a good heave going into it, just need to be slower anyhow. We went through friday morning, no frost, road dry, it should be ok for Sunday. They are working on a new bridge, at the last single lane ( where we had the INCIDENT), so is is a bit rough through there, 50 feet maybe.

We stopped for gas at the Pemberton station, not busy at all, for a Sunday afternoon, which shows the summer traffic is gone.

Traffic back yesterday, at least from Pemberton down (we came back to Pemberton via the Anderson Lake Hiline road), through to Horseshoe Bay, was not too bad, NO backups at Brittania.

From White Rock it took us 3 hours to Pemberton, another hour to Lillooet. Say an hour for lunch, maybe a 1/2 hour photo stop at the lake, fuel, we would be looking at a 8-9 hour day, based on leaving from Richmond.

aaaahHHHHHHHH......

The weather looks to be in the mid to high 20's for both Pemberton and Lillooet on Sunday...we're going!

I plan to leave the plant at 5:30, that would get me to the upper levels meeting place at 6:00 ish. This is the WestView exit, and we meet behind the Esso station, for anyone coming from the Valley, etc..

Sound like a plan?
