Thanks for the update. I like that your willing to cut and experiment with the aero. My friend who did my splitter wants to do the full pacakge like you did, I just need to save up some money so I can take care of him. Its awesome to see that these mods have really helped your time with out adding additional power.

Cool to see somebody really go for it with some aero stuff on a 510. How much of a difference did it make on track? Any plans for other aero upgrades (maybe a wing)?

Also, do you know the PN for the rear shocks you are running? I'm in the market for some and am thinking of going with a similar model Koni to the one that you have, but I'm a little lost on what to choose when it comes to valving. Any input on the matter would be awesome.

The aero didn't make a huge difference, but it was noticeable. The largest difference was in my speed and steering feel at high speed. Most of the aero on my car is just made to reduce drag and lift. I basically have a little downforce at the front from the splitter, but it would be nice to get a wing out back to equal it out a bit more. A little bit of rear downforce would be beneficial.

Currently I run the 30-7436 rear Koni. It is OK. The compression is a little light and but rebound is about right on the softest setting. Its ok for the price, but ground control setup is not good and needs to be heavily modified to work good. Right now I just have the shock body bolted to the control arm and the shaft in the strut tower. Everything is rubber mounted... I would like to have spherical joints instead.

Thanks for the shock info. I'm planning on buying just the shocks not the ground control kit so I will most likely go a little heavier on the compression. I don't quite have the budget right now for any of the more expensive Koni's so the 30 series seem to be the best alternative.

Damn man!
You are relentless! I hadn't checked in on your progress for a long time. I would not in a million years have had the balls to cut into that beautiful dime even if it allowed me to catch Troy Ermish. Congrats on some amazing work and rock on!

Thanks 510tdi!

I was able to beat my personal best at Road America with a stealthy 2:43.8! I am extremely proud of that time and it has taken a while to get there. Just think, last year I was at 2:52 with the exact same power, and now it is 50lbs heavier. Basically took off 8 secs over the course of 1 year. It was a great way to end the season. Here is a vid. Just remember: Street tires, pump gas (160whp), 2260lbs wet without driver, street driven- not trailered.

What a blast. Envy, envy, envy....
Am I crazy or does it look like you might have stayed with the Vette on a tighter, curvier track?

510tdi, you are correct about staying with other faster cars on tighter tracks. Surprisingly, my car has a very high corner exit speed and have no problem hanging with the big boy cars on slicks. Sadly, the straights at Road America kill me!

Sorry for the lack of updates. I have actually been very busy with a few things. I have redesigned the cooling system, brake system, reinforced the rear subframe, venting of the rear diff, upgraded valve springs, modified oil pan of oil return, upgraded injectors, map sensor, twin scroll turbo manifold, gt2871 turbo(K04 hybrid), mounting intercooler, making intercooler pipes, upgraded front brakes......... The list seems to never end! I might have some time to add some pictures soon. You can visit my facebook page at "Crude Engineering"

Wow!
Did you fabricate that new hood ornament? Or is she an aerodynamic aid? That's awesome!

I was thinking the same thing when you posted this the other day. I've not seen to many splitters that could be stood on!

Great progress as always.
