Datsun-credible!

Post by DimeAttack »

Here is my 1972 2 door project! I picked it up after it had been sitting for 6 years with a blown out rear spring cup. I thought it didn't have too much rust... but... the more I pull off to repair, the more rust I find!

Wow good on you for being brave enough to tackle that one! I drove by it daily and thought about buying it for a parts car but couldn't find any part of it that didn't need attention....would love to see it during and after the fabricating and welding process!

Hey guys, yup SDSS auto shop! those pics were taken in about November, and I've done a bunch to it since, just have to post the pics (soon!) And yeah, it needs a bunch of work, but it fires up and runs really nice!

After wanting a 510 since high school, I couldn't resist when this one came up for sale! I got a great deal on it, even with all the rust, it was a local car and very well maintained mechanically. I only had to charge the battery and replace the fuel pump and filter and she started right up. Cool. But sooooooooooooo much rust! oh well, time is 'cheap'.

280ZX front strut swap, I've cut the front springs for kicks and giggles, but will run Specialty Engineering lowering springs when funds magically appear  I lowered the spring hat about an inch to get nice and low and I've got Tokico adjustable inserts to put in as well.

I built a new exhaust, 2", and modilfied the collector where it comes off the manifold. I'm not sure if it'll work, but cutting out the restrictions to get more flow seemed like a good plan. We'll see how it turns out when its on the road.

And the biggest job for me is fixing the upper frame rails. They are both kinda terrible! But... that means I get to hone/develop my metal fab skills.

That is some rust!

Amazing courage going after this one, but, it is only metal!

Great job. Nice to see it come back.

Thanks, there sure is a lot to practice on, but up here in BC it's wet a lot of the time. Wonderful breeding ground for rust.
