The Gobstopper car

I heard about this car quite a while ago, it took a long time to talk Dave Carrol into selling it to me. Well I finally got it, the plan was to just leave it a beater and drive the wheels off of it. First the floors rockers and a few other areas needed repairs. Which after doing many rust repairs jobs it's easy to get carried away... Well on this car we just cut out all the rust wholes and smashed everything straight and applied body filler. Unlike many other cars we have done we didn't strip it to bare metal. There was almost 10 layers of primer and paint on it! 3 different layers of blue paint with primer in-between then white then black! Shit this car is protected! My plan was to sand past the flat black and get to a better color like one of the blues haha Well it turns out the black layer was about 50 microns thick! Thicker than an other layer of paint on the car. Frank was like lets just throw a quick paint job over it so it doesn't look like shit, which now that it's done it was worth it. We just got a little to carried away, we ended up painting the inside of the car the trunk, new headliner, dash seats and windshield. here are a few pics of before and after, it still needs a bit of work but looks killer! 2 months straight with 3 datto pro's working on it.

You have done a wonderful thing! And it is nice to see the old '68 trim come back!

Are you set up with side markers yet?

Thanks :) We get to it sometimes haha

I have a few sets of the big gay pointy sidemarkers. I have a few sets of the older ones so I'm going to use the best original lenses that I have and use the new backs off the big new ones. I wish I had a set of NOS correct ones.... Not that I have the money to buy them... haha

Rich did you ever get those bolt? I never heard from you after I sent them. Call me when you get a chance. It's an alright car, I just want to daily drive it but it still needs work.

Damn - you and your 68 2dr collection!

Nice work - and it would be cool if you made the fun run in a few weeks (with anything, but a 68 would be best!).
