i talked to the datsunland socal dude at the heritage museum recently. the only parts of the install i can remember were "pull up chrome trim" and "its a 4 beer job".

talking to him is a 2 beer job!

IIRC you remove the old staples and replace w/the new section.

I installed my sqeegees with tiny rivots (3/32). I used the old staple holes to line it up. I have since found a set of sqeegees that you do not need to install anything. Just plug them in! They have a small S/S edge on them that goes along the S/S window strip. Looks good when installed. No one notices the stainless piece.

Did you ever get this figured out. I didn't see this thread until now. I have the Datsunrestore kit and it was super easy. I removed the window glass. Use a pry bar on the inside of the trim and it takes almost no effort or force to get them off. I then used a grinder to remove the staples. No need to be careful because the outer metal strip gets thrown away. My set came with about 12 clips to hold the squeegee in place. Just double check that everything is aligned properly before putting the clips on because they look like a bitch to remove after they are installed. Then just press the trim piece back into place.

Good job. I am curious how you "stapled" the steel backing with the rubber tab. I know the holes are there but how did you line up the staples? Did you use a commercial staple gun or ????

I used small rivots and drilled out the staple holes. I never fiegured out how to staple these parts. Help me out!

i used the metal strip for a template ,marked the old staple holes on my squeegee witch has steel in side the rubber base ,then drilled the holes out a tad bigger,i have a stapler that fits in and the staples were the right size.looks good to me. 8)
