Re: Jordan's '72 2 door project
So i haven't done a whole lot lately but there is more stuff prepped for paint and i managed to find myself a hefty swaybar- from a 240sx- just reverse the bolts where it attaches to the control arm, mounts bolt right up to the 510 holes.
My new front end will be in pretty quick here too
and back in the 80s my dad redid the interior of a friends 2 door 510 and the seats were put in the attic of my uncles shop they were still there and under all the dust there is still a seat.
The ka coming out of my 240- getting ready for some new life.

Does that sway bar seriously mount up that easily? If so, that opens up a ton of aftermarket options for us. I was looking into getting a custom bent piece for my swap, but if it's that easy, I'll just get a 240SX unit. Is there a difference between S13 and S14 options?

And I guess it would clear the front sump KA/SR since it does on a 240. Why hasn't anyone tried this before, it makes sense that it should fit. GREAT find!!

Look on eBay for the headliner. I've bought two over the years from the seller 'goliners'. They are good quality and fit well, although the vinyl pattern is different from stock. They are somewhere around $80 shipped I think. Put a headliner in before you do the windows.kayakdude07 wrote:sanded off the ceiling as a headliner is hard to find
That sure would slick if that 240sx sway bar works with front sump KAs!

The front sump with the sway bar will be very close to the front sump- I'm really hoping it'll work. I haven't tried dropping the motor in yet, i need to get it rolling again first...

Jordan,
Thanks for the belts. I must have talked shop with your father for over an hour.
You’re lucky to have him for guidance - I love to see father/son projects. My father was absolutely responsible for my involvement with 510's.

Dang i haven't been here in awhile. Anywho, i've tried the s14 sway bar on my wagon with ka, and it didn't work for me. Hits the sump. You could cut and extend it a bit though. The stock bars are hollow.
Oh yah, and the reason for this is that on the 510's the control arms are behind the xmember, and on the 240sx they mount in the center of the xmember.
But if you can get it to work, you are my hero.

I don't know what I'd do without my dad... It's so helpful having someone right there who knows what's going on.Byron510 wrote:Jordan,

I'll put some pictures of the goon up soon, I just haven't had a whole lot of time lately. I'll have to ask my dad first; it is his project afterallDimebag wrote:Did you get to see his wagon project in the back? S14 bars, which are the same shape as the S13, didn't work, just as Foo suggested. The bar would be going right through the oil pan. I looked at installed pictures on S13'sand S14's and the motor is considerably further back, relative to the LCA and the stock mounting location of the sway bar on the rail, than the 510.
I have two, so I might be able to cut them up and make something that fits.

Will the 240 bar work with an L motor?
