Advanced search, own posts in a thread

Post by okayfine »

Hello guys,

Now that my car is driving, I want to up the insurance coverage on it. One of the things I want to provide is a print out of all the posts I wrote in my project thread. Is there a way to configure the search selections to only return posts authored by "okayfine" in a certain thread?

I don't think you can do it, and neither can I per se, but I'm working on it from another angle... I'm assuming you want this for the WhiteBird project thread.

Indeed. The AAA rep thinks receipts will be enough, but I think the AAA rep also thinks I farmed out all the work so the receipts will show labor charges. As I did 95% of it myself, I figured the build thread would help support my case for increased value.

Thanks, John. If it becomes too much of a PITA, I can do it manual-like somehow.

Cheers

Julian,

I started in on this too, but I see that John and I both had the exact same idea and approach...

I can see that John is doing the following for you:
* make a copy of the entire thread
* place the copy in the moderators forum (so no one can muck with it while the mod is mucking with it)
* delete any posts that are not yours
* re-title the thread so it's not ambiguous
* perhaps lock the edited thread
* move the edited thread to a public section of the forum

Then you have your cleaned up thread that you can print out in hard copy for AAA valuation.

...frick Rob! Don't you know the magicians code?!?!

anyways, he's exactly right and you can find it here

You can delete and edit you're own posts, and then we can delete it or lock it when you're done.

Sorry John, I got caught up watching your avatar again.

Thank you. I really appreciate your efforts. I got what I needed, you can lock or delete at your preference. I don't know if AAA is going to bother reading 98 pages of build thread, but I'm sure going to give it to 'em.

Again, thank you. I owe you one.

Cheers,
Julian

Wow. What a great way to read a project thread. :D

So much less stuff to have to read through.

true enough. It's nice to read through without all the commentary, though there can be good info offered. I moved the cleaned up version into the Featured Builds section and locked it.

I should do that to the Bronze build - that one is a chore to get through all the extra comments. Maybe later.

you can search for posts by a specific user name.

search.php?keywords=*whitebird&terms=an ... mit=Search

now there is twice as many...

right, but you can't confine the user search to specific topic which is what Julian was wanting to do

That'd be awesome if you could John.
I'd take the effort to add the photos where some got displaced years ago in another site upgrade. Also quite a bit of info was lost when the gallery went south - so I could add this in as well.

What do I win?

Okayfine:

Byron:

Unfortunately I don't think you can change the number of posts per page displayed without modding phpbb.
