the New 370z

Post by merlin »

I've never been a Z car guy, I like the underdog- making more out of a wallflower car, but I think the designers did the right thing with the new 370...

Wow, aluminum SLA front suspension and rear multi-link, hollow sway bars, carbon fiber driveshaft, nice stuff. I'll have to read more about the elect. heel-toe manual transmission.

A starting price of $30K is pretty cool - nearly affordable!

I was really hoping that the new Z would incorporate the manual transaxle of the GTR - without the AWD system, but I just scoured the specs and overview in Merlin’s link, and I can't find it. Looks like it’s a conventional mid engine/m rear drive lay out.

The rev matching option looks good; I wonder what it'll be like to drive. I've recently (last week) rented a Lincoln MKS AWD with auto/rev matching technology for a 6 hour road trip down the I-5 - it was pretty smooth and fairly well engineered for what it was. It'd be a trip to try that technology with a manual transmission. I kind of figured this was coming, and I fore see this as being a standard feature on all manual transmission cars in the near future.

Nice car, they did the old 240Z proud at the design level.

Good job Nissan.

I expected the weight front to rear to be better....

Nissan sides with the camp who prefer not to have a 50/50 weight dist.
they like the 54/46 or so area as optimal. i think the GT-R is the same.

Sounds like it would come close to 50/50 then after driver (+passenger).

That's pretty awesome... The interior is porn as far as I'm concerned.
