WTB L16/L18 Distributor + Pedestal. SoCal

Post by nbesheer »

I need a working distributer for a L16/L18 with pedestal. Let me know what ya'll have out there.

On a side note, I'm not using my L20 distributer/Pedestal so it might possibly be for sale.

I have a box full of them, I'll seee what I have....why do you need an L16/18 specific diz? Are you looking for a dual point...and if so, why?
I know I have a couple single point and an EI black box, as well as a Pertronix one.

Well I have an L18 that had lots of problems, turns out that the distributer and/or the pedestal is not for an L18 and the dizzy shaft will not engage the oil pump shaft so with the dizzy installed the rotor and shaft turn freely without the engine.

How much for:
Dual point:
Single Point:
EI Black box
Pertronix:

i have my old L16 dizzy you can have. I believe it still has the pedestal. Only problem is it has no dizzy cap and a metal tab broke off. I don't remember exactly which part, but I can check tomorrow night. Either way it's yours whenever you're in town

can you look under the dizzy and see why its not linning up? its just a slot. should be ez to fix

If you lived closer I would GIVE you 3 dual point dizzys!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cant even give them away !!!!!!!!!

Most L series guys have a stock of pedastals to cose from.
usually it has to match the timming plate also

Hey Jason actually that is kinda too far away for me to pick up now. And i'm not going to be in that area anytime soon either.

Well this is what the oil pump shaft and dizzy shaft should look like

But this is what mine looks like

Hope these simple photos convey the message

Bummer.... that seems very strange... Have you tried wiggling it to see if it pops in? Try setting it 180 degrees out; a lot of the L20b dizzies are like that, mine included

Tried nearly everything, the only thing that works is to take the pedestal out. and I don't have an L20, I have a L18

sounds like your oil pump dizzy shaft is to short. very odd.
I thought that all the shafts where the same length. AS far as I know all the dizzys are the same size.
I have an extra HEI unit though.

well one usually turns it untill it the rotor locks down. If you say its so I believe you.
Unless its a funky dizzy, I dont know what you have going on but all L series dizzys should fit L16/18/20 long as you have the matching pedastal and timming plate to dial it in.

the length that I HAVE seen should be the same.

goin by your photo you show that its not down far enough . Is this correct? so the lenghts are different.

is the pin sheared off causeing that housing to lower down?????????

I converted a L20 to a Pertronix by haveing that ring Boss machined off so the magnet Ring in the kit will fit over the point lobes. Can still use the stock Ballast and coil.

I'm really not sure what's up just that when the pedestals removed it fits. My father said that there is still a pin in there but i'm fairly convinced that another dizzy will solve the problem because the previous owner really monkeyed around with the car, so who knows what is wrong.
