How do I get an avatar or one of those quotes at the bottom of my post, how do I type in html code, what is a computer?

First you need to click 'profile' at the top of any forum page...

Here is how i get the image in my signature (remove star):
[*img]http://www.the510realm.com/gallery/albu ... ebsig2.jpg[/img]

And for avatar you can just upload it from your computer!
