Keith your fuel switch panel reminds me of stuff I would see at the Boeing surplus store. I sure miss those days!

Ha...so do we miss it, we used to go there a LOT back in the late 70's, early 80's.

That braided steel line I run my wires through to the switch box......is WATER line from a Boeing plane! Who would know..!!!???/

As soon as I saw it in coils in the surplus store, I bought a bunch of sizes, knowing I had planned to make this switch box at the time. It has a plastic liner for the water of course, so super smooth to pull all my wires through!

All the braided cost me all of $10.00 USD back then, in 1984. The switches I had experience with at the multi gazzilion dollar gold refinery I worked in, really awesome quality, TELEMECANIQUE. You can gang a switch up with either NO or NC, or both, so they worked so well for my methanol system, and of course, the emergency stop button. We have those in all the cars. None of those has missed a beat for 40 years.

Andy bought a LOT of his first air tools there.

One funny story, we had a stack of aluminum blocks that we grabbed, to make wheel spacers with. Andy also, with ONE HAND, had grabbed a BLOCK of titanium...thinking it might not get noticed at the till. Well, sure enough, the fellow at the till notices that this BLOCK is in one hand, if aluminum it would not have been regardless...so...it stayed at Boeing. Colour was different also!

My tires are still MISSING in UPS's hands, so, at least Tire Rack has stepped up and sent a replacement 2 tires,

here are a few things from the bottom of one of my trunks, the books I have likely posted before, but here they are again. Both the Stainless Steel Carrot and The Unfair Advantage are well worth reading, seeing into the minds of brilliant people, the toll racing actually takes in reality on family and friends.

It was Mark's time with Porsche, developing the "Can-Am Killer" 917-30 Car with 1,000 to 1,500 BHP, when the Porsche engineers kept asking him if he had enough power, that he famously said; "It will never have enough power until I can spin the wheels at the end of the straightaway in high gear."

As I grew up the the mystique of BRE and John Morton, I think a lot of us young 22 year old guys thought we could be the John Morton. That reality really hit me when I truly dedicated myself to the lowly sport of Solo
at the time, and what it took to BOTH be a good... no.... fantastic driver, and the total commitment of TIME to be competitive.

That fire suit was my first, when I first went to Knox in 1982. That thing would not protect you from a match, let alone a full on gasoline fire. It was legal, as was...those moccasins, all Knox required was a leather footwear, how you got there did not matter. Boots were really expensive then....yikes....don't know how I drove the hillclimb with those!!!!!!

The Datsun jacket I got when Nissan/Datsun, in 1979, let us CDN's sign up for their Datsun Contingency awards, aligning with the US. We also could enter and compete stateside. I made a few dollars over the years, culminating in 500.00 for my 1991 Solo win for Canada. Then if course they sent me all the swag for years.

Big thanks to Tire Rack, they stepped up pretty quickly and sent me another 2 tires, the other 2 are still missing in action...their problem not mine now, I have my 4.

So soft when they are fresh like this, kinda forget. I am going to check the manufacture date on all tires.
pretty sure all with be 2023.

I have now run all the Yokohama street legal race tires, 001's, 008's, 032's, 048's and now the A052's. For my car and driving style, I just love the Yoko sidewall construction/stiffness, lets you "feel" the road and the tires take an amazing set in corners.

Also yesterday, as it was such a warm afternoon, I got 113 litres of 100LL, they just refilled the bulk tank so it is FRESH... turn up the boost! This will do me for 2.5 tanks of fuel, enough to get me going for the season.

Next step is to siphon 10 gallons from drum to re-fill car, then get insurance, TD again and adjust valves, re-torque head. Then, get tires mounted.

Now if it would truly just warm up for more than an afternoon.

I'm sure you will like these tires Keith. They drive so much better than the A048 and still give you all the grip. I have been enjoying them a lot.

These tires are so sticky...I have hung them in the basement as a fly trap...I call them my Yokohama Fly strips...likely won't get them mounted till into May.

For a tire rated 200 TW...there is some serious BS going on. I would suggest by all the track/solo tire makers. My A-048's were rated at 60 TW and these A-052's are as soft.

My Infinity G35 tires are rated 200 TW and by no means are they as soft as the A-052's.

First race weekend Specialty passed on as we really got hammered with cold & rain.

I am siphoning 15 gallons of fuel out of my drum today, ready to re-fill car.

Having a hard time that it is almost May, Knox Mountain is 3 weeks away. 27 years since I last ran Knox....crazy!!!
