Starter Motor Needed

Post by JMAC88 »

Hi all, does anyone know what starter motor I need for my 1600? I’m located in Australia and having a hard time finding one.

Its an L20B motor with a 5 speed gearbox out of a 910

The flange diameter is 82mm and hole centres 110mm.

Would anyone know a part number for the starter, or an equivalent such as a reduction starter or from another car?

Thanks.

Thanks, I ended up finding one from a KA24 but the solenoid just touches the block, so I will turn it 180 and see how it goes

Z series and KA block orientation is about 18 degrees different so the solenoids on them will hug rather close to the right leaning L series block. I put a Z series starter on my L20B and it hits the dip stick tube. I bent the tube to clear and then the solid dip stick would not go in. I had to cut it off and rivet a flexible one from a chev or something. Now I have a Maxima gear reduction starter.

The starter from an S13/14 240sx won't work but the D21 Hardbody truck might. As you can see below the 240sx starter goes through the block casting before transmission. In fact it might screw into that flange.
