Re: 510 Day - Byron's place in Maple Ridge
Sorry gang, I realize that over the years I have been the documentarian for so many of our drives and events.
I wish you could see my photos albums, a lot of which have been posted here, what a wealth of 510 history here in B.C..
I promise to take LOTS of pictures at Knox this Saturday, weather maybe looks to be ok, 17 with a chance of showers, a lot cooler than normal for Kelowna on a May long weekend. I just heard they may throw up a snow warning for tonight on the Coke!

Re: 510 Day - Byron's place in Maple Ridge
It’s that time of year again.
For all the Vancouver area 510 and Datsun enthusiasts, 510 Day is just about here.
This’ll be the first full blown, post pandemic 510 Day, no hold barred. I hope to see the locals join on Wednesday May 10 at my place in Maple Ridge. See page 1.
I will be supplying burgers and drinks by donation as usual.
There’s a lot to catch up on. And I’d like to see some of the last elected guard from the 510 club present for around 6pm if you can make it.
The festivities get underway officially at 5:10 as always. But being a work night, you get here when you get here.
The day will be a go, rain or shine.
I look forward to seeing many of you regulars again.

I will be there...camera in hand for this year! The 510 won't be of course, still waiting for my "call" to get to Andy's.
At least I'm bringing a Nissan.

I will be there.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?
Re: 510 Day - Byron's place in Maple Ridge
Very unfortunate that I won't be able to make this... I would very much like to meet some of the BC Datsun enthusiasts that I see on here regularly. I am leaving on vacation tomorrow and won't be back in time.

Happy 510 Day!
For the Vancouver BC locals.
Last reminder, burgers go on the grill tonight at 5:10 - we’ll be grilling and bench racing til late in the evening.
If you’re local and a Datsun Enthusiast, drop by my place today. Info above and in the first thread of this post.
Take care, and Happy 510 Day.

I am planning..if ok....to come a bit early...to beat some of the bad traffic through Cloverdale
and that bypass.

Re: 510 Day - Byron's place in Maple Ridge
The turnout at last night 510 Day gathering was.. unexpectedly high! I was prepared with 36 burgers and 36 foot long dogs and chicken dogs… and ran out! Peter graciously went and bought another 24 of each locally so that everyone got fed.
Wow, post pandemic - everything got bigger!
It was great to see so many people. And it was great to see my driveway and the street full of Datsun 510s, and a couple ZX’s (and a Porsche GT3s…)
A great cross section of stock to very modified. It was a cool evening that did not end until after midnight.
Thanks to all that showed up and socialized on what turned out to be a perfect evening weather wise. For a mid week work night, I was genuinely surprised at the turnout. We had kids from 1 year old to teenagers as well - some new faces that I didn’t recognize . Many old faces that I haven’t seen in years. What an enjoyable evening.
Thank you all whom attended. It was a great evening.

Re: 510 Day - Byron's place in Maple Ridge
So...my 510 day was NOT so great.....
I washed and polished the G35 in the morning, super excited about a post covid get together finally. At about 2;30 I got a call from my son Matt that his new battery just died as he was in Richmond, taking his wife to a health appointment. Long story short, he got BCAA to come and jump start and then booked it to my place, not shutting the Tracker off. We then at about 3, which is when I had planned to leave for Byron's, Matt got to my place and we headed over to Lordco, which miraculously had a battery for the Tracker. That took TIME!
I finally headed to Byron's at 3:45, knowing I was going to hit crap traffic in Cloverdale. Sure enough, very heavy, light to light. I noticed my idle was not going back to normal...HMMMM...I wondered if the SprintBooster was maybe going south, my throttle control. Traffic was really backed up at 176th and Fraser highway, so more idling and slow movement.
I should have twigged.....once I was moving to Golden Ears Way, kinda came back to normal idle at the couple of lights.
I then hit the Golden Ears bridge, which was gridlocked at the top. I had planned to take the Lougheed exit, as I hate the snail pace on that bypass.
As I started down the north side, I see the temp gauge is heading to the moon....CRAP!!!!!!!!
Thank Cripes I was now in the right lane, with the slight downhill, where I could shut the car off as that stupid traffic light shuttled off and on, PLUS...an F'N group of F'n protester's, which was adding to the problem...wished I had my shotgun. The temp gauge is now PEGGED at the nuclear end. Looking ahead I could see a turn to the Jeep and Ricky's restaurant, which I made. No way could I have stopped on the bridge. As I pulled into Ricky's the rad is spewing coolant out the overflow tank.
I let the car cool for a minute, then thought, I don't think the fans were coming on, so fired the car up...NO FANS. CRIPES!
An hour later I am on the back of a BCAA contractor and heading with the car to Specialty. That was a trip!
For the next hour, I listened to this fellow talk about, in the insanity of our local drug gang wars, tell me about his nephew, the latest victim in Surrey, who took 3 bullets to the chest, killing him...and he was NOT the target...his friend was. 20 years old...GONE...and the devastating impact on the family....
Needless to say, I won't forget this 510 Day!
Thanks for the call Byron, it worked out at least in the timing of the tow truck and not as long as they predicted.
Hopefully I have not baked the motor, pretty bummed today to say the least.

Re: 510 Day - Byron's place in Maple Ridge
Eh Keith, no worries and I hope that it all turns out ok in the end.
Had you made it, you would have enjoyed yourself. We had a lot of the old guard here last night as wee - that was great to see - Rob, Jamie, Maurice, Ralph, James, Richard, Cam, Jon... I could go on. They were asking about you as you never miss a 510 Day at my place.
There were at least 40 or 50 people that moved through here last night! And about 15-20 Datsun's. Post pandemic, it was very good to see.
But hey, we'll make up for the social aspect on a future drive or gathering.
