Rear bumper side brackets
Rear bumper side brackets
I am in process of refinishing the rear bumpers on my 510. The fella before me filled in the holes in the 1/4 panels that hold the bumper on the sides. Can I live without them? will the bumper flop around? I'd hate to drill into the body if I don't have to. Appreciate the advice

Re: Rear bumper side brackets
I never mounted the side's of my bumpers, figured in any slight tap, the bumper would NOT move the 1/4 panel and distort that
It does not 'flap" around or move at all.

Re: Rear bumper side brackets
I second that. No need to put a crease in a quarter panel when just the bumper could take the hit....The bumper will sit fine without it.
Finished is better than perfect......
Re: Rear bumper side brackets
I never mounted mine either.
Re: Rear bumper side brackets
Thank you gentleman. I’m gonna cut the tabs off
Re: Rear bumper side brackets
Don't know why I can't bring myself to cut them off. I stand the bumper on end and step on the tab to bend it in. Obviously place a towel or similar under the bumper end. I try to never do anything to a 510 that can't be undone. No flares. Lol
