Back in the 510 game

Post by ostaylor »

Hi - I live in Victoria and recently acquired a '72 510

I'm interested in posting here and participating in Island 510 events when they are allowed again.

Thanks,
Owen

Very nice! Judging by that blue sky that photo wasn't taken recently. Ha! I'm in Victoria too, but my car hasn't been on the road for years. Fingers crossed this will be the year it comes back to life. I will keep my eye out for you on the roads. Maybe we can even get together for a drive if I can get my act together.
The company motto seems to be "We're not happy 'till you're not happy."

Took the picture about three weeks ago... Haven't been able to drive much since then given how much rain we've had but I like getting it out for a rip as often as I can :^).

Welcome to the group. You have yourself a nice car. Brent spared no effort building it. And Andys work is second to none. There's a few of us on the island
Hope to see you on the road this summer.

Thanks Mike - The car is mechanically amazing - so much fun to drive and the sound is absolutely incredible. I love the raspyness (is that a word?) and great power band. Lots of things to do to make it my own but I'm taking my time to figure out what I want to do and lay out a plan. I see Brent sold his front bumper on here a long time ago :^) - I have already ordered the replacement as I prefer the look with it on rather than gone, but I know that's a personal thing.

Would love to connect with other Island 510 owners when Covid and the weather permit. Please keep me in mind for that if you know of anything going on.

Owen

Nope... 2.3 LZ that was built by Specialty Engineering. Amazing engine.

Congratulations that is a really nice looking car. It sounds like you have just about the same engine as I do. Andy built my motor about the same time as your. With mikuni 44s it made darn near 180WHP before I changed it to EFI. Andy does some amazing work.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?

I have some suspension work in that car as well. Brent was a supper nice guy, I’m going to miss having him around our group.
But I’m so happy the car stayed local!
Mine to is still old school L powered 2.2, but I took the carbs off years ago and went EFI.
I agree, the bumper needs to be there on a 510, especially on the front.
Welcome, glad to have you here, and glad the see the car is still here :-)
