Finished up the framework in the rear and on of the wheel well tubs. Moving at a feverish pace now. Less than a year since the last update!

Why not a VH45? Or a VK56? fun build to follow for sure!

My friends did a lot of 1UZ swaps in other cars so I just kinda followed them. The engines are cheap and a lot out there. I got a whole 2001 GS430 that was totaled for $1400 so the deal was a no brainer. I would prefer it to have a Nissan but oh well.

I started working on the driver side wheel well today. I used 22 ga sheet metal 2'x4' from Lowe's. Not the most economical choice. I made a sheet metal bender out of 2"x2"x.0.25" angle iron. I would not recommend building one. It took me a few tries to build one that works.

I marked off the sheet metal in 1/2" increments to know where to use the metal shrinker from harbor freight. I started from the center and work outward until I have the desired curve. I used an air cylinder to power the metal shrinker, but i think they make a stand that has a foot pedal.

I cut the wheel well opening to big before when I was going to use BRE flares. I had to patch the metal and then cut it to the right opening. next step is to make the flares out of metal like the other side of the car.

I didn't like the position of the engine mounts on the modified skyline cross member. The engine sat too far forward and the weight distribution was really bad. I chopped up a s13 cross member and move the mounting pads back. I welded it up and forgot to take more pics before I installed it. So below is like the halfway point

I moved the cross member back a few inches to push the engine back even further. I put some plate on the top and bottom to beef it up

Cut out what was left of the firewall to let the engine slide back.
