Don't they just gravity drain out behind the front fenders behind the tire?

Re: Cowl drain tubes.
Weird, I just ordered 32mm hose and a grommet to do just that. The stuff should be here this week. I was planning on trying to make a kit for everyone. I bought extra everything just in case it works, so I will keep you posted.

Don't they just gravity drain onto your left foot when you go around a corner?? ...

Re: Cowl drain tubes.
Got the grommet and hose, looks like it will work pretty well, nice tight fit everywhere.
Thoughts?Joel

I think this looks great as a concept....could be improved by using a 90 degree elbow fitting to direct the hose outlet down rather than let it get wedged against the inside of the fender causing it to kink / rub / make noise over time?
Plenty of sources of HDPE fittings around (example below) that don't look too cheesy but could really sharpen up what you have.

On one side, the hose and fitting could be retained using the clamping effect of the grommet in the footwell? ie. the hose from the interior could be cut flush with the grommet on the outside face, the 90 degree fitting pressed into the hose and the grommet would retain it all. Perhaps could retain it with some Super Glue /adhesive to guarantee it's sealing and security?
The "vertical", external hose could be retained on the OD of the hose with some large heatshrink, and with some glue on the ID of it, which would avoid having to use an ugly hose clamp to retain the hose on the fitting? Perhaps a finishing touch would be to retain the vertical hose using a "P-Clamp" to the inner fender or use the "bend over" support that is already in there on most cars?

Re: Cowl drain tubes.
On the 5 fenders I have, albeit in slightly different places vertically, there is one of the Datsun metal straps welded to the vertical support near the rear of the fender, I was hoping to use that to anchor it. Makes it mighty simple.

Good job Joel, could be you post a product manufacturer and part number? Maybe even in the parts thread with the above photos for future reference.

Industrial supply, had to buy fair number of grommets and 10 feet of hose! I will check the records and give people the info.Byron510 wrote:Good job Joel, could be you post a product manufacturer and part number? Maybe even in the parts thread with the above photos for future reference.

Maybe I should assemble a little kit for folks, I now have a bunch of extra stuff!
The grommet has to be trimmed on one side, put in hot water to soften, and then assembled. If you examine the original hose you will find that half the grommet flange, the fender side, is smaller diameter to facilitate assembly.

Hey Joel,
If you want to sell one of those kits, I would be in.

Re: Cowl drain tubes.
rad' hoses. i know its overkill for a drain hose, but they had the right bends and should not move around. and will last for ever.
