200 sx turbo

I found a 200 sx turbo for cheap, what are the ca18's like? what gear ratio is the rearend? I would like to get it ready for this seasons autox.

The North American CA18ET versions are not too great. That is the only Nissan engine that didn't have forged crank/rods, and the only one with a timing belt. If you can find one in decent shape, it might be a fun car. But the bottom ends are notoriously weak, so don't go fishing for more boost/HP. IIRC, they are rated at around 140hp stock, and that's about all they will make, too.

In other countries/markets, they got the twin-cam CA18DET. This engine is very strong and can make great power. Also, if you can find a good used one, it's not too tough to swap into the US-spec 200SX.
