list of all nuts and bolt sizes for a 510 ?????
Does anyone have a list of size, length and thread pitch of all nuts and bolts to put a 510 together. The reason i ask is im putting together a bare shell and want to go with all stainless nuts and bolts. I dont need the ones for engine as it has a s15 sr going in

I am sure you can work it out, just measure all of them and write it down!!

Wouldn't go ALL s.s. on the project as they are not as hard as some of the required grade 8 hardware.

I dont have all of them to mesure. Also some will be cadmium plated

I don't believe this list exists. People have asked before. You could pour through the Parts Catalog and total 'em up. Lots of work and not all of the info is down for each fastener. Most have size and thread, but not all have length.
As mentioned above, and previously in your other thread, SS is more brittle than steel. Not suitable for all applications on the car.

I've always thought about that when putting stainless nuts on the brake master cylinder.....
P.S. don't buy nuts from Grainger, we had to outlaw them at my work. They weren't holding up to there marked spec. I don't mean a few either.

I figured someone who had them all cadmium plated might have made a list

You might check this kit out. I have used the kit and I think uses Wirth hardware. It has most of the common sizes that a 510 uses, JIS standard ( which is what Datsun uses) 854 pieces, yellow zinc or gold cad plated, high quality stuff.

No joke. $210 ain't bad either. Roughly $0.25 per fastener. Cheaper than what you'd pay at any hardware store, especially for JIS stuff.okayfine wrote: Wow.
You use it on your 510 or just for general use around the shop? Did you find that the majority of the pieces were "510 compatible", or was there a lot of fluff?
Re: list of all nuts and bolt sizes for a 510 ?????
I learned about this kit, from doing the FJ 40. On the Toyota boards, they raved about the high quality of the kit, so I ordered it. You could probably set up an account with Wirth, but there is a min order and they only sell in boxes of like 100 in each size, which now you are talking big money. Most of the stuff is the same as the 510, JIS small head and the right lengths. When you start cleaning the old rusty bolt and stuff (some of the rusty bolts are too far gone to plate anyway), getting ready for the plater, the min that the plater charges, the $200+ is cheap. What is your time worth? Sure is nice to replace a fastener with new and recycle the old to the scarp yard. IMHO the only fasteners that I would go to the trouble to replate is the specially stuff.

did you get them plated? Ad says it's $115 extra....
Re: list of all nuts and bolt sizes for a 510 ?????
I just got the yellow zinc. I figured that I didn't need the extra corrosion resistance of the gold. The yellow zinc looks like the standard cad. I will take a picture of some of the installed hardware.HudsonMC wrote:did you get them plated? Ad says it's $115 extra....

Bike Papa asked about this kit, so made a trip over to the old workshop and took a coupe of pics of the kit and the fasteners installed.
Note: that the bolt heads are a flanged head.
