I've heard good things about both the redline mt90 & the Ac delco friction modified synchromesh. I guess it'll depend on availability.
Thanks, Greg

Thanks, Greg
I got the Spal fans and Spal relay kit from Summit racing. The fuse box I already had for a different project, but you can get them just about anywhere. Amazon, Wayteck wire, Summit Racing.

Thanks for the info abisel, that's something I definitely have to set up. I can use my stock temp plug for the sensor right, just buy a temp sensor & adapt something for it. Too bad they don't have a pig tail or an adaptor for the ka temp sensor.
Thanks, Greg

If the stock KA sensor is a thermoswitch (on/off switch at given temperatures), you can use it to control the fan relay. But what temperatures does it turn on/off?

I thought of using a 280z thremoswitch that mounts in the thermostat housing on my L20, but can't find out the set-point temperatures of the thermoswitch. So I got a radiator hose adapter and the Spal 165/185 thermoswitch (3/8x18 NPT thread) for my application from Summit racing as well. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/atm-2283/overview/

I installed the sensor in the upper radiator hose because that is where the water would be the hottest exiting the engine. Some radiators would already have a 3/8 NPT bung at the top of the radiator where the thermoswitch could be installed. I should have had that bung installed in the Champion radiator when I bought it. It could still be installed however.

I checked into that, looks like going to do something similar to that. I drove & moved around my goon today, I was stoked! Should be driving it soon! I need to set up the el fan situation & put a plastic vent piece/fitting that goes on top of the 5 speed tranny about 2/3rds of the way down. I'm having a hard time locating it. The PO let me know that it was missing, he might of broke it during installation. With out it I guess the tranny'/gear oil could leak out. I went to the Nissan dealer with no luck. He didn't know what to look for or even how to really look it up.
Any info would be real helpful.
Thanks, Greg

The clip, bracket, and breather hose are all called out but not the breather itself.

the trans is in the car so it's hard for me to see exactly where it is. When I bought the car he showed me another trans that was on the ground & pointed & that plastic little piece that's barely sticking up not to far from the shifter.

The car runs but idles real low, I actually have to warm it up to idle. When I unplug the mass flow sensor plug it idle high. I noticed when I got it running that it wouldn't idle until I put the air filter on. When I had my hand over where the air filter goes it idled good..? Right now I have just the exhaust manifold on, no exhaust... Could that make it idle low..?

It's idling good now, I found a couple of vacuum leaks that I couldn't see. :) it's time consuming when you pick up in the middle where the PO left off at.. Knocking it down one thing at a time thanks to this forum & the vast knowledge the people have on here.

Resurrecting this post just to confirm all of the research I have been doing....

I am putting a 92 KA24de into a 72' 510. I do NOT think I have an evap system in the trunk and actually think my tank may be venting to atmosphere or into the fuel fill area via hose (car is in storage for winter so I cannot go open the trunk to check but I am almost 100% that I do not have the EVAP system back there).

1. Can you just vent from the tank to atmosphere? (My car constantly smells like gas when I get in after a day.)

2. Does the Fuel System Diagram sound like this for the KA in the 510?

Tank (bottom bung) to engine --> 5/16 Rubber EFI Hose --> 5/16 metal hardline --> 5/16 Rubber EFI Hose --> In-Line Filter --> Hose --> Fuel Pump (see specs below) --> Rubber line to back of OEM 240sx Fuel Rail --> OEM 240sx Fuel Regulator --> 5/16 Rubber EFI Hose as return (BYPASS 510 Flow Guide Valve) --> 5/16 metal hardline --> 5/16 Rubber EFI Hose --> Tank (top bung)

3. I am thinking of upgrading all lines to 5/16 but that leaves one bung coming out of the tank for the fuel feed that is too small for the upgraded lines (its 1/4?). Can that just be stepped up with a hose adapter or do I need to replace the bung on the tank?

4. (Last one I hope) Running EFI rubber hose to the hardline in the system is okay? NO AN fittings are needed for the 240SX system? [I am doing an inline WALBRO (debating the GSL 392 at 255LPH/43.5psi versus the GL394 at 190LPH/43.5psi since the OEM pump is 100LPH/43psi).]

Thanks to anyone who can help. This is my first swap and I am reading a ton all over the forums and in the manuals but its still a bit confusing so I wanted to confirm with others who have done it!

There are 2 fuel tank lines coming out of the tank on the bottom facing the back seat. 5/16" is return and 1/4" is feed. Not sure why it's done that way but it is. If you use either to feed a high pressure pump you will have fuel starving issues at 5/8 of a tank of fuel. There are many ways to do the fuel system. So far I haven't figured out a way to make the rig not stink like fuel after sitting. The factory later cars had the charcoal canister above the tank that had a line that ran to the front of the rig and vented the stink into the intake to be burned up. That would probably help. I've always wanted to try it.

I just borrowed my buddies smoke machine to try and make my rig not stink like exhaust when I roll the windows down. It's fine when they are up. I love cruising with my window down though.

I’m less concerned with the gas smell and more concerned with functionality, so I guess I can tackle that later. Ha.

Everywhere I’ve looked, it looks like people just run a high-pressure in-line fuel pump for the swap. I haven’t seen discussion of any other option really. What did you do? Or suggestions on how to keep this simple?

Ps…
Fuel starve issue at 5/8 or 1/8 of a tank?

I can speak to the tank venting.

It is NO problem to vent from the top of the tank, to the outside.. The vapor canister is just gravy.

I would recommend do a small LOOP of hose above the tank, below the package shelf, and then strategically
run that hose to where you can put it THROUGH the trunk floor, to hang just below the floor by 6" or so.

This also makes a nice safety if you ever rolled the car and it ended up on the roof, the vent hose would be the highest point and no fuel would drain out.

ANY enlargement of the fuel hose is not a bad thing, always ensures a VOLUME of fuel available at wide open throttle over time.
