VG30 z31 conversion info
Thought I'd add this to help anybody else needing some VG info
After some more digging I was able to find (2) sources for z31 wiring harness and pinouts. (2) Different approaches, but hope this might help others with VG install.

The links are truncated. The first one tries to go to xenonzcar...z31, including the ...

Re: VG30 z31 conversion info
Had a few questions for those that have done the VG swap
1) is it proper to shave the wiring loom stock metal clips along the firewall flange...seems that many run the harness under the flange lip for a cleaner look?
2) is it possible to retain the hand pull parking brake assembly below the dash or will I need to adapt a between the seats assembly, and if so which one is optimum
thanks for any responses

Re: VG30 z31 conversion info
one more question...Is there a second part to M. Spreadbury's VG conversion article. It seems that there should be but I can't find it.

Re: VG30 z31 conversion info
Dang Chip when you start a VG stuff you don't mess around. It'll be fun to have another VG510 at Summit next year as Ron doesn't come any more in his and Kathleen's is the only one now. I wonder how my NA S14 SR20DE would fair against a VG510? I know how it did against Keith's VG33 Celica with Nissan front and back suspension.
Good Luck and have fun with the install

Re: VG30 z31 conversion info
The VG conversion is under way again after a few weeks off.
I was hoping to pull a little knowledge from those that have been here before. The motor (84 z31 auto) and trans (z31 5spd) will be installed shortly and I am preparing for fitting, plumbing, and wiring. I intend to use the 200sx upper intake plenum as it seems that the z31 upper is heavy and bulky and would cause the engine to sit further forward than necessary. The s12 intake that I have is bare( no egr, iac, aac ) With street drivability as an important consideration I have a few questions:
1) EGR...what effect will blocking this port have? I have noted some references to a change in the fuel mixture at cruise when the valve should be open.
2) Is the z31 EGR valve the same as the s12? I have all the pieces from the z31 manifold
3) Will the idle control valves from the z31 mate to the s12 intake, and I would assume these are important for street driveability and a possible A/C install in the future.
Thanks for the input

Chip,
Not sure if you have seen this or not. Good info on the VG and modifications to the 200sx intake.

Re: VG30 z31 conversion info
Thanks Dave,
Yes been there a few times and been through it all. All the plumbing to the intake has a purpose. The EGR is an emissions device and may not need to be retained. There is some thought that blocking this off will change the mixture at cruise when it should be open and working. It has been my experience that the IAC is an important device for proper idle control as well as the other air control valve. It seems that a few like to remove some of this stuff and clean up the appearance of the intake. The appearance is not as important as a properly running car to me. I plan on driving my car year round and in cold weather.
There is also someone who makes block off plates for this very application.
I think i'd rather start with all the proper stuff hooked up and then do my own experimenting on what can be removed and not have a detrimental effect on driveability.
