Having troubles getting 1980 Datsun 510 Started
Hello, we are having some troubles getting our 1980 Datsun 510 started. It ran pretty well a few months ago, but it has been sitting since then. We installed a new battery and terminals. It has spark, and the carb bowl fills with gas. It tries to run, but it sounds really rough. Starting fluid doesn't help. We need some help

Fill out your profile. Where are you?
Choke not on enough. The way it's flapping around it may not be connected properly.

The choke does seem loose in that vid. - sounds like a lack of fuel.
Fuel pump & filter OK?
What kind of fuel do you run? Ethanol is very bad for carbs!
Drain the fuel and put in fresh stuff.
Commpression numbers?
Swap spark plugs? Correct gap.?
Massive vacuum leak? Check all lines carefully by bending & looking for cracking.
Try this: Disconnect the coil wire, have someone turn over the engine WITH the throttle to the floor and cover the carb with your hand. This will create a strong vacuum through the carb and pull any possible dirt through a clogged jet(s).
Best of luck and please report back your findings,
James

Check spark plug wires on the distributor cap. 1342 is the firing order in a counter clockwise direction.
