Blue driver door, I had just removed a ton of bondo, this car had been repainted the same color turquoise before I got it.
Terrible prep/paint did not stick. I am going to strip it all off and repaint.

How many different mirrors can one car have???
Found all these under the bondo!

LOL!! at the mirror holes, mine had the same issue.

What's the plan for the car(s)?

Make one out of two?

How's the rest look, body, structure wise?

Scott.

I can't get at the rest of the cars yet for photos, the are kinda buried.

I will dig them out.

Well, let's see,

The Black will be taken back to semi-stock (SU Hitachi carbs(38s)instead of original)love that sound, 1600 engine, closed chamber head,(gotta have some poop), stock iron header,
painted the same color as original, 562, turquoise. I love the early cars had it stamped in the radiator support.
I have some original interior pieces and some good exterior trim.

Nothing much in the suspension, except some new parts.

It is in much worse shape then Blue, it was in a field in Columbia CA for a few years and the under side took a hit.

It was rear ended and hit in the front.

The Blue is a different kettle of fish. (who said that first?1?)

I will be painting it the same color 562 as original.

(I would like a critique of the engine stuff)

Engine is a L20b bored and stroked to 22??

Fully balance and carefully assembled, with special attention to the valve train

CP forged Pistons (Dished, due to supercharger) 8.5 -8.9 CR is the goal

Massaged, polished, shot-peened and balanced stock rods (I do have a budget!)

SS valves , head relieved and lightly ported to match B&G intake manifold

Custom plenum fed from SCIM on drivers side (wheel well was damaged along with fender, kinder of a miniature crush zone, hit a short concrete bollard and somehow missed the main frame piece in the top of the fender.) I think I have thought of a way to incorporate the IC with my repairs in that area.

C-15-60 Rotrex supercharger 8 groove pulley requiring serpentine belt system, well not "requiring", I could have driven it by itself from the crank, but I thought it would be fun.

8 groove alternator pulley with high output alternator 120 amp
Alternator 120 amp 8 groove pulley
Alternator 120 amp 8 groove pulley
Air conditioning (Vintage air/heater system)
Sketch of dash layout Vintage air controls in center
Sketch of dash layout Vintage air controls in center
Custom dash/console ( I will post photos of progress, that is a project in and of itself)

Datsport suspension front and rear, with Troy Ermish coil-overs in the rear

280mm rotors in front 260mm in rear

Datsport Struts with that fancy camber/bearing plate
struts with camber plates
struts with camber plates
I will go on later with more details

I have been planning and collecting for a while and it is very cool to share.

The body on Blue is "OK" with rusted out rear quarters at the bottom and some rocker panel work.

I have the sheet metal, just need to dig it out and do it.

I have new fenders for both cars

I do need a new radiator support for Black.

Very clean, nice custom work.

The dash in Blue was completely ripped out by previous owner. He left the top dash pad, only has a couple of minor dings. I will reuse it.

Hard to find a new '68 dash, I have one but it is going into Black.

So I found out the Console for the MBZ 107 body (79-80s SL) comes in a the perfect angle to pick up the bottom of the dash. Plus, it kinda has a retro look to the shapes and curves.

The blue engine bay is in the blue car

I will uncover and take more pics

You know, I can't remember the number but I think it is 23,000 series just newer, I am out of town (Palo Alto) and will look when we get home.
Not NOS just really clean, (it has a clock!) It is the entire dash with all the stuff. I should have said new to me! I have only "heard" about a new dash, never seen one.

I bought the blue one in LA in 1977, drove it a couple of years then put it in storage in Ventura, didn't rust much,

I got it out in 1985 when I moved up to Santa Cruz County (Ben Lomond)

I was on vacation at Columbia CA, (summer 2000) a gold rush town with period buildings and folks walking around in the garb, it is a State Park. Walking down a wooden sidewalk, glanced at a public bulletin board and a guy was selling a 1968 510. I couldn't belve it was a '68, (I was already hooked when I found out they were different)

He drove it out to our RV campsite and I bought it for $500.

I drove it down to Ben Lomond, Mr. Toads wild ride, I didn't know anything about the condition of the car,and it was an adventure.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I know someone that has an NOS dash but wants a chunk of change for it... I need to get the part number from him :)

Ventura, eh? You don't say. 'Course, I was four years old in '77. You wouldn't recognize the place today, but you'd be able to say that for most places in CA.

Yeah my pop had Ventura Audio, but he passed in 1982. It was a small town feeling place in the seventies. We started a music production business in an old bread factory with no money, just enthusiasm, I don't think I could pull that off today (not to mention 5 semi-nude beer-wet girls sitting on top of the kegs dispensing the goods, that would never fly now!)
