well thats a bust i can't take it down anymore , it sits flat on the head now but it is just resting on the header. that doesn't leave any room for header wrap and i bet the heat from the pipe would not be good. if i had about a 1/2 inch more from the head it would work great. :|

You still have a couple of options Mike - we could machine a few degrees into the manifold flange and angle the whole manifold up a bit.
You'll have to look at how this could effect the carb operation, but a few degrees may not have too much effect. The manifold is long, it won;t take much of a change to create the clearance you need. Question would be - how much needs to be done - angle wise?

If there is an issue with carb angle getting too great and affecting operation, we can move the mounting flange for the carb back to it's original angle as well. It will mean welding up and re-drilling the holes in the carb base, but honestly that's not a huge deal. You know a guy who can machine it :-)
Also, hood clearance - what does this currently look like with your air cleaner configuration? This would be another consideration.

I'm game, because it does,'t sound like we quite have the best answer yet. I'm sure it can be make it right while keeping what you want/need.

Mike, i would love to go efi but i don't want to get that crazy with this car. Byron i have one more option coming in the mail, it is going to need a tig welder i think. i have a set of half inch flanges that could be welded on and port matched . there is my half inch needed. :| also tried a dual short tube mani yesterday, bottom bolt fire wall side touches the pipe.

what do you mean bottom bolt touches the pipe? putting a bolt in on the lower intake?
should use studs then the oe nissan washer ground to fit the offset diffence on the header--

Turns out this was the incorrect way to dial this manifold in, as it did not take into account the rising angle....

...notice how the front two cylinders are located lower on the manifold (higher relative to the head but inverted here as I’m machining the manifold upside down), so this incline of the manifold had to be prefect before starting to machine the increased angle on the manifold - I didn't realize the geometry that was in the stock manifold all necessary to keep the carb level when the engine is tilter rearwards, and lower at the back - no just side to side, but front to back. BTW, all of ths geometry is missing on the twin side draft manifolds ( and I mean every one of them, bar none).

the slime is a live , Robyn was so kind to stop by today and give me hand getting the intake back on. got it fired up and found out that its Fn loud now. the minor issue that we came across is the air filter is to tall and makes contact with the hood. :| . give a smaller one a try.

had today booked off work, so i thought it would be a great time for a rip and make sure intake was good to go. went and rounded up Trev and his purple VW, and we did the manning lookout and up to Princeton and lunch in Merritt run. had no issues with intake, but i think the trans is fu bared.

also speedo needle stopped working, the miles were still ticking away.

That vw looks more maroon. Than purple.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?
