Noob build
Re: Noob build
It needs a good buffing and cut polish but overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Man, you are brave. Your first paint job, in a little shed, in BLACK! Man you have balls!
That’s got to feel good. I did my interior first, then did the outside.
Keep em coming

Re: Noob build
Thanks Byron, it's paint job 3 if that makes it any better... but there is no booth to rent over here so I had to make it work...Byron510 wrote:Man, you are brave. Your first paint job, in a little shed, in BLACK! Man you have balls!

Short of the visible spots between the B and C pillar, the interior is getting lizard skin since it'll be covered with carpet anyway.
Re: Noob build
Undercoated the trunk last night, the smell of this stuff is downright awful. Looks like I'll be wearing the respirator for another week while it cures...
Re: Noob build
Lizard skin sound deadener on the inside, it sprays pretty nice and the ceramic heat insulation will follow tonight. The true test will come when it's driving around.
Re: Noob build
Did some cleaning of the intake manifold, the inside was full of black crust from the EGR. Cleaned it all out, sandblasted and powder coated everything. Getting replacement hoses for a 240SX is proving more difficult than I had hoped, fingers crossed they have stock in the US.
Re: Noob build
Did you buy the spray kit for the Lizard skin or how did you install it looks great

Re: Noob build
I bought their spray kit, it's not identical to an undercoating gun but works the same way. I was tempted to spray it with a regular 20 dollar gun but decided to play it safe. It recommends a tip pressure of 55 PSI, after some trials going closer to 70 is what I found best. Hope that helps..iceD wrote:Did you buy the spray kit for the Lizard skin or how did you install it looks great

Re: Noob build
I'm in Qualicum and just about at the stage where I have to do something to the floors. Where did you buy the lizard skin and would you rent or sell the spray gun. Both seem a little expensive on Amazon. And how much did you use.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Noob build
I bought it all from Jegs and had it shipped to my mailbox in Sumas while still living on the mainland. There's a shop in Langley that sells it, can't remember the name. For a case of beer you can borrow the gun anytime, we'll just have to figure out a way to get it to and from Victoria.MikeY wrote:I'm in Qualicum and just about at the stage where I have to do something to the floors. Re: Noob build
They sell it at The Old Car Centre in Port Kells. I just spoke to them they will ship it for free. 604-888-4412. $185/gallon in a 2 gallon pail.

Re: Noob build
Also, what you see there is a gallon for both sound deadener and heat protection. I had to go thinner to get two coats everywhere, so if you're doing the trunk then go for 2 gallons for each product you want to use.
Re: Noob build
What they have is in a 2 gallon pail why he gave me a per gallon price is a little odd 190$/gal for the heat product

Re: Noob build
Thanks for the info. I'm planning a trip to Vancouver in March so will try to pick some up. Its sound id like to get rid of. Im getting old is seems. And I have to drop off some parts to chrome at some point in Victoria. After I get some product I will try to arrange a Vic trip.
I just looked again on amazon.ca and $127 a gallon for either heat or sound lizard skin. Free delivery with prime. That looks like the way to go.
