pulled the woman's car into the shop and started down the long path to paint.

luckily the car came with some spare rockers. will be doing a scuff and shoot as all the rubber is good.

I was so out of my element repairing the upper frame rails, no lying on my back being showered with slag. no trying to fit head and helmet in a wheel well...it was like working on a bench......granted a low bench.....oh my back. ImageImage
it would be seeing primer tonight if it wasn't for the rain. I guess I should clean up those welds and capture some nuts.

Hows' the fit on the fenders and hood?

The first car I did this with - I didn't get it right. And it was not possible to really fix, aside from cutting it all off and starting again which I wasn't really interested in. I am so glad that I won't be working with glass fenders again - thanks to Dave at Futofab:-)

it fits but I wont know about the gap till I have captured the nuts... tempted to just use some worm screws. after the set for this car, I will have 3/4s of a drivers side and 5 passenger fenders in metal.

captured the nuts, managed to get them all on without the need to tap. sent a couple hoods and the fenders over to jerry @ airstrip (poor guy... took a vacation to Jamaica a few month ago, 24hrs after landing he was plowed into by a crotch rocket in a marked crosswalk, shattering his shin as he and the rider tumbled along the pavement.)the boys did a great job knocking off the paint with walnut then attacking the rusty bits with garnet. just waiting for the paint to dry........guess I can start welding up the fenders.

made it all the way to primer on the hoods.Image
I was having welding issues last night, start off cold and lumpy. turn up the heat, good for one pull, then too hot, up, down, hot, cold. turns out the AC was on the same leg as the welder  ....they should see epoxy tonight.

swapped out the heater for the larger long roof core. disassembled and cleaned the brakes, new front flex lines, clutch slave. lube and filter, swapped out the 89/90/140? in the trans for some 50w synthetic and freshened up the diff with new 90w.

first drive was sketchy, ball joints and or tc rod bushings. car would dart in dips and couldn't decide if it wanted ditch or cross the line.

are tc bushes available from nissan ? is it the land of nla......

I think Energy Suspension still make them. That massive new Lordco near you might even have them in stock.

Moog sells a good stock rubber type rubber TC kit that is extremely close to the OEM units, and not that much. Comes with new washers, steel sleeve and all.

Car looks great Robyn, it did seem like a short time frame. Be great to have another 510 out at our outings now. Will this be a DD for Mandy or is this a toy for her as well?
