What strut is this?

I am looking into possibly buying a 68 510 2 door and the owner said that he thinks the struts are off something else because when he went to buy a replacement shock the one that they gave him was too small. He ended up bringing the one off the car to get the right one but he doesn't remember what it was. The front brakes look like they are stock. I had 280ZX front struts on my 69 510 and they had the brake calipers and rotors off the z car. Here is a picture of the strut.

looks stock but you can clearly see a weld on the housing so theyve likely been shortened--

you could use some B6 valved VW bilsteins as those might be available- the B8 version has been backordered for at least a year--

you need to measure the length of the tube to know for sure - any shorter insert can just be spaced up to fit. so you might be able to use ZX ones

If they were shortened and he bought stock shocks and they were too small would seem to imply that they aren't stock, not sure if that is helpful. As Cartel said it's probably best to measure.
