Tie rod ends

Post by guzzirik »

So far I have purchased two right hand thread short tie rod ends in my attempt to find a left hand thread one. Does anyone know a sure fire way to buy one? Apparently nobody really knows what they are really selling...

It finally hit me. the L suffix, as in 487L, is for left hand threads, not the left side of the car. Also, the PO put the drivers side tie rod on backwards. That threw me too. Not until I found a factory diagram did I see that the longer end on both rods attaches to the center link so that they will clear the pitman arm and the idler arm attaching points...So, I bought a 487L end. It better be right. I mean left....
