Log in problems and deleting messages problem too

Post by qwik510 »

Hi Spencer,

I am having a problem staying logged in. It seems that when I switch from my messages to the forum, I can view the forum but if I want to post a reply, I have to re-enter my id and password. This has been happening alot since the new format has been up and running.

Also, I tried to delete the messages in my saved folder and even after I mark the ones I want with a check mark and push the delete button and then answer yes I am sure I want to delete, I get a message that says they were deleted but they are still there.

Thanks for looking into this.

Hey Dave - I haven't had much time to look into this yet but will try soon. Could this be a cookie/browser security issue?

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Spencer,

I cleared all my cookies and it has still happened. Maybe an AOL thing? I was reading one thread, hit the back button on my browser, entered another thread and then went to post a reply and it said I needed to log in. Too weird. Sometimes when I visit the forum, I am automatically logged in ans sometimes I need to enter the user name and password.

Also, I just tried to delete messages from my box again and even after deleting, the messages are still there.
Enjoy The Ride!

I'm having similar problems with my laptop running Vista and IE.

I log In, and check the "remember me" box. It stays logged in as I surf, but as soon as I try to post I have to log in again. Then it takes me to the message box to write the message. I type the message, and when I hit submit it takes me back to the "Log In" screen and then from there back the the message box, so I can never post.

I tried setting my security to medium (the lowest it will go easily), and still the same. It's only since the change, worked on the old site, and others. I have firefox installed on the other computer, I'll try that and see if I can post, to determine if it's IE or Vista.

I think I know the problem... I'll test it, but I disabled "protected mode" in IE - Internet options - security I did it before but i forgot to restart. I'll turn it back on and see what it does.

Unless of course changes were made :D

Seems to work fine with protection turned on... oh well, at least it works :D I really like the new design.

EDIT- still having problems. Seems like if I log straight into IE it doesn't work. If I try firefox and then go back to IE it works in IE...

P.S. is there a delete button? I'd delete the above test posts if i could.

Edit again - testing again because I was auto logged in with IE... maybe it works when sleep instead of shut down (all I do with this comp anyways).

I still wonder if it has to do with protected mode.
Does anyone else here run Vista IE in protected mode??

My problem has been( occasionally) when I go and type a reply, and then post, I get shut out, or something like that, then try to use my back button, and all my typing is GONE...RATS! I do need to learn to type some of my long winded stuff in Word, then cut and paste...but......

Also, I have sent three PM with the new site, it says sent, but, they are sitting in my Outbox. Should they not get moved to the Sent file? I will try a test to some one to see if they are actually going.

PM's stay in the outbox until they are "taken" (read by recipient).

Apparently my problem is common.... from the phpBB fourm

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... a&start=15
managed to solve my similar probem

try setting cookies and other parameters

http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article/configu ... -settings/

if it does not work try to "empty" DB tables phpbb_sessions and phpbb_sessions_keys
make shure that the "Type" is set to MyISAM or InnoDB
They also tried turning off validate browser?? or something like that.

Seems like there is no solution yet though, but keeping protected mode off has worked so far for me.

Thanks, Matt, I suspcted that, but, I did get a response to one, and it is still hanging in there, in the Outbox...no biggy. I at least know that they are going through at any rate, as Jason responded to me in a blink. I just didn't want anyone to think I was not responding.

Now, on to more important things.....when is it going to WARM UP?
