Member location stripped in 1st introduction post?

Post by StrutlessWonder »

I wonder if there is a bug somewhere that causes new member location info to not be saved or to be stripped?

I see new members posting their first intro msg, and the rest of us asking them to please add their location.
When I joined, I *know* I initially put in my location under profile settings, but it didn't appear with my 1st intro post. Not sure how that happened. After my intro post was approved and appeared, I had to go back and enter my location again. At that time I was also able to enter my sig and avatar pic.

Maybe a moderator can create a new "test user" intro posting to test out my theory or at least trouble-shoot? It would save Julian from asking all new users to add their location.

You were the first to mention it disappeared after you put it in. There was some discussion about making the location a mandatory field, but there was a reason it is not. I, of course, don't remember the reason.

So maybe I'm just special? Anyone else have the same experience?

Or maybe, in the words of Pee Wee Herman:
"You don't wanna get mixed up with a guy like me. I'm a loner, Dottie. A rebel."

I thought the Dottie reference most appropriate...

Brad helped by posting a couple intro posts and it seems to be working fine. I believe when you signed up was exactly when we were having some trouble with the database. Might have just been bad timing!

Cheers,

So I was just unlucky, introducing myself at the wrong time, as usual.
