Re: Fort Casey Drive 2016
As the day is mine I am really not following any schedule per se. I do not want to feel like I have times to be at places, I do enough of that.
I will leave the plant when my car is washed and wiped down and then approx 1.5 to 2 hours I will be going through Mission to Deroche. I can phone when I leave the plant. I'm not doing the freeway thing, I just want to enjoy the morning on the secondary roads and smell the flowers with maybe a photo stop or two thrown in.

That's a nice relaxed way of doing things. If you want company just give me a call on my Cell when you leave the plant and a general idea of where you want to meet up. I'm thinking somewhere in Mission would be the logical place.

What a gorgeous day today and tomorrow is to be even better!
Norm, if you want to hit the plant around 7;30, that would be ok and we can leave at 8'ish.
I now have our route planned.
Richard, I will phone when we are leaving, I suspect about an hour and a half to get to the coffee shop approx, to maybe two hours, just depends if there might be a good photo op along the river.

5:00 A.M., the sky is rose coloured over Mnt.Baker, the ocean in front of me is dead calm...it is going to be a spectacular day! I think sunrise now is 5:30, so we will be heading into the low morning light, make sure your window is clean inside and out.
Richard..have you changed that turn signal bulb?!
Last day of the Tour De France today, looks like Chris Froome has it in the bag, he sure had a bad crash the other day. I know what that is like!
Car is all fueled up, will be interesting as to how many Km we put on, I don't have a sense on this one, 200 - 300 maybe?

Well it's 6 am and Tim Hortons breakfast is in hand. I couldn't sleep this morning so I got up at 5 and decided to take a scoot up Mt Seymore to warm up the car. It's going to be a great day for a drive.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?

7:15 AM. Slept like a log until alarm at 7:00 AM.
Didn't change turn signal bulb... cause it was a brake bulb. Bulb was good. Cleaned all the connections with contact cleaner and it seems to be working now. LMK if it goes out again. Grabbing a coffee and a bite to eat. Then I'm off to Timmy's in Mission to meet up with you guys. Z is purring like a kitten!!

Sounds like it was fun. Drove up to Newport, VT for a weekend on Lake, Lac Memphremagog on the U.S. side, was warned that crossing the border into Canada on the water and not reporting it will cost you $5000 and your boat if you don't report it "I crossed your border boooohoooo!, seriousely? but it was fun.

Re: Fort Casey Drive 2016
I don’t know if I should be mad that I did NOT get the memo about the Fraser valley Gran Fondo, or, that the wasp decided to pick on ME!
What a great day, other than a bit of heavy traffic in a few spots, it was a fantastic summer drive, lots of secondary back roads with the twisty dips thrown in for entertainment.
Thanks, to James and Rob, Norm and Richard for keeping me company. I now have a pound of beef jerky to drag into the mountains next week for some good protein, keep’s yah warm at night.
We got to Fort Langley in good order but found the entrance to River Road shut down, as it was the start of the Gran Fondo. So, we turned around and went back to #1, then off at 264th onto 56th, which was just great, very little traffic all the way to Mission Bridge. We then hooked up with Richard and blasted off to Deroche, where we found a throwback to simpler times, in the General store. It really reminded me of the store in Northern Ontario when I was a kid. Hell, you could even buy ammo there, that is not something you see every day in the citified realms of the lower mainland.
After Deroche we headed east to the Aggasiz bridge and did the original road to Chilliwack, staying off the buzzy mayhem of #1. It was very busy for the traffic heading to Cultas lake, I cannot imagine what it must be like when EVERYBODY leaves on a Sunday afternoon, it must be horrible.
After that though it was almost straight sailing along, only encountering some of the Gran Fondo riders fixing flats, at least we seemed to be going opposite them.
Our last leg had myself, James and Rob stopping at a low key car show just before the tunnel. There might have been two dozen cars there, same old. One idiot though, as he was leaving, lights the tires up and promptly spins into the center traffic island. I thought that only happened on YOUTUBE. The clown did not even get out to check if he had done damage, lights it up again and promptly almost looses it again, as he fishtails out into the main traffic stream. Loser!
I headed back to the plant as I wanted to be back home in the early afternoon. I washed the bugs off and tucked the car away till our car show.
Arriving home I was very snackish, so I loaded up a plate of some crackers, cheese and some cold cuts and then promptly sat down in the sun with a good book. I had maybe taken two bites of my crackers when on the third bite a frigg’in wasp blasted right into my mouth...AAAAHHHHH. I saw him go in and tried instantly to blow him out, but, HE HAD TIME TO STING my tongue. Holy Mother of God Crudmucker did that hurt!!!!! Needless to say I finished my night gooned on Tylenol and some anti-histamine. That was five to six hours of hell I can tell you. That is the worst sting I have ever had after a lifetime of camping and hiking. YIKES! I can sure see why it is very serious if one gets stung in the throat, as my tongue swelled up to twice it’s size. What a way to end a great day.
Next trip will be to Fort Casey, lets’ try for early September, while the weather is good and daylight still ok.

Re: Fort Casey Drive 2016
Dig those Krazy socks!!
Sorry to here about the Wasp sting Keith. I shudder just thinking about it. Really enjoyed the drive. Great day, just the right lentgh for me. Would have been perfect if the traffic in Vancouver... Errr Chilliwack hadn't been so bad.
280Z ran perfect, except for some heavy pinging when I got hard on it in 3rd gear. It's never done that before. Filled up with Chevron 94 in Mission. This was one of the stations that got 89 Octane put in it's 94 Octane tanks a few months ago by a new Tanker driver, and I wonder if it happened again? There's been a few post on some of the Turbo forums about pinging on Chevron 94 lately. My last tank was Shell 91... and it seemed that the car really liked it. I may have to make our next run on Shell 91 and see if I have the same pinging issue.
I might even give Chevron a call today. Anyone know of a local Tech person that I should talk to?
