Ron....Ron who....?

I can think of no better person to wait for, at the top of a beautiful mountain pass, in the sun, with friends, throwing snow balls in July!

Question: Why did the deer cross the road?

Answer: To scare the hell out of Ron and Iz!

It must have been providential that I went to Andy's today to wash the bugs off. I do that so any water has time to dry out in the trip back to the plant. as it was later in the afternoon, the bright sun was shining almost into the engine bay. As I was giving it the visual inspection under the hood, I noticed that creamy white sign of combustion gas on a brass fitting on my waste gate line. I thought... hmmm... is that really what I'm seeing...yes, i wiped off...so I look closeer and I see where the cast iron of the waste gate has blown through. I fired the engine up and sure as hell it was coming out there, which means both the waste gate valve has burned through, and, that the exhaust gas has come of the valve guide..NOT GOOD....WASTE GATE DOA!

What's funny now, is that now that I see that, it explains why I though boost was taking some time to build, then look out..it really was. I thought maybe I was just used to the power...HA! I wonder if I can get warranty after 31 years?

So, on the phone to TURBONETICS tomorrow morning, hopefully their replacement Delta Gate is the same dimensions in terms of the mounting flanges.

As I made it back to the plant on a tank of fuel, and no sign of running out, I would think I am in my traditional 23 - 24 MPG for the trip back. I will fill up my jerry cans, fill the car, and see what is left, that will be a definitive test again.

I documented just over 400+ miles for the trip, with my moving average on the way back at 55MPH.
Time got screwed up as I came home, then went to Specialty. Top speed....well, I did hit a number!

On the way back to the plant, after Specialty, I did have a meaning full conversation with a 370Z, replete with NISMO stickers, on my favorite exit ramp. Lets just say he will be re-visiting the NISMO catalogue on Monday, for more speed goodies!

Funny you should mention the deer Keith. As we were driving along Is started yelling -Watch out watch out! I started looking ahead for glass or nails or what ever. All of a sudden to my right a young buck was running across the road about 15 feet in front of me. It scared the hell out of me.. Then on the way back after refueling  a mother ran across in front of us followed immediately by her baby, who saw us and turned back the other way, thankfully because I may well have hit it.

Ron, I was at the back of of the line, but clearly saw both deer clear off the banks of the road. It's interesting that these deer crossed at this point as the road itself was built up 20-30' above the natural grade. From my vantage point, both deer were out of sight with one jump and they literally dropped from view off both sides of the road.
Scary, and I'm so glad that OEM rad support I have isn't going to be needed on your car.

Pictures to come today. All behind you Ron saw the two deer episodes, with the second one having the buck run in front of you, and it's partner hang a u-turn and jump back from where it came from.
I did take note of the sign heading into Winthrop, out in the meadow, which stated that $385,000.00 worth of damage had been done due to deer strikes.

Did anyone see the herd of elk feeding to our left, on the way back, in a grassy green meadow, between Concrete and Sedro Wooly, must have been a dozen there.

Ya Byron, that was definitely a scary moment. I forgot that you were behind me for both events. Thankfully nothing happened. I want to thank you guys for waiting for us after my brain fart about the fuel,ha ha. We both had a great time and enjoyed everyone's company.
