1972 Datsun 510 sss coupe

Post by wayleroux10 »

Hi guys

I want to sell my Datsun 510 coupe. Not in sure what it's worth because this is the South African version. It has the original motor. SU carbs. 5 speed gearbox. And runs. Please help so I can post it for sale

No idea what the market is like in South Africa for that car, but there is some good market information available on Bring A Trailer. They don't specifically cover the SSS Coupe model, but you can see US $ values for many Datsun 510s and I think there are a few SSS in there, but I didn't look through everything...

BaT tends to be a premium selling experience attracting premium buyers for "interesting" cars. While being located in SA isn't going to help the sale value, if you get some quotes for shipping to the major ports where this may be of interest (New York, Los Angeles, UK?) you might do as well as you can there.

Final sale value will be heavily influenced by how clearly the car is photographed, described and responsiveness to questions during the auction. Of course you also need at least two bidders who want the car and have the money in the bank :^). You can set a reserve, but BaT will want that reserve to be reasonable - they only get their $99 listing fee if the car doesn't sell.

Nice looking car from what I can see - good luck with whatever route you go.
Regards,
Owen

The SAR is so weak at the moment but the Saffers have started pricing their cars for export markets. We've had a couple in the UK last year for about 10k landed (17kCAD \ 14kUS) but looking online they're asking double that now. Some cheeky Aussie is trying to sell an SA Coupe as a JDM Coupe and wants about 40k for it.

As always, it's worth what someones willing to pay.

Thanks for the replies guys. They typically go up for 10k USD in South Africa but most guys are selling overseas to get more money. Also there's not much to compare the SA version with price wise. Its not a bluebird which is what most people are familiar with. I am hoping to get 20 to 25k USD for it which I think Is very fair
