WTB: front splash pan for 510
WTB: front splash pan for 510
I am located in Central Texas and am looking for the metal panel that connects from bottom of radiator to front cross member for 510. email to rwdoze.gmail.com.
Re: WTB: front splash pan for 510
This seems to be one of the first parts that got "lost" on any 510.
The funny thing is that I remember the founder of the 510 Club of BC had a stack of these - and I'm talking somewhere around 10-15 of them in perfect shape late 90's. He'd hauled them out to a parts swap meet. At the end of the day, I was there when they got tossed in the scrap bin, and him saying something to the effect that "I know this is an unwanted item now, but in 20 years...."
The reason most splash pans didn't go back on is that the 8mm captive nuts in under the rad support tended to seize to the bolts and few bothered to drill them out and "fix" the issue. The easy thing to do was simply scrap the belly/splash pan.
Hope you can find one.

I've got one in excellent condition-- stripped, primed, freshly painted. Maybe not quite like FutoFab new, but genuine Datsun steel. If you don't want or need new, it's another option for you at least.
No pics available today since I'm out of town, but if you're interested I could post or send some on Wednesday.
I'm in Edmonton, Alberta, but shipping shouldn't be too bad. Let me know if you want to talk details.

thanks for all the responses. I agree the pan seemed to be the first part gone.

Re: WTB: front splash pan for 510
The reality is that they likely should be left there, as it helps with airflow out of the engine bay, down and out.
For most of us, that have modded cars, with different oil pans, anti-roll bar mountings, etc, they just cannot go back on.
That makes it ever more important to seal up the front of the car, seal the rad and any of those other "holes" in the front, that forces the air to go through the rad and that very subtle ram effect helps with air flow through the engine bay.
Rob was just kidding.....we have a running joke up here abut the Fast and the Stupid...with lots of NOS.....

.... and puuin' down 400 HP daily... Yo!
Keith fixed his need for the belly pan by installing an air dam that can shovel more air around the car and up through the rad than most of us can ever hope for!
If not running an aero-aid up front like most 510's, then yes the belly pan does help significantly in aiding air flow through the rad and Keith notes. A major reason why nearly all production cars have one from the factory.
It also helps keep a bunch of crap out of the engine bay as well.
