Re: R160 Subaru Datsun Clutch type LSD with 4.44 gears Diff
Are you sure it's 4:44 gears?
The only gears I've known available for an R160 is 3.7, 3.9, 4.11, 4.37, and 4.62
The only 4.44 gears I've seen were in the old Nissan Comp/R190 diffs - (I have one of these).
Most Subi diffs I've seen are 3.7:1
Not doubting, but just checking

Subaru fit 4.44s to lots of the turn-of-the-century products, mostly the Forester XTs, but likely also other models.

Yes, I'm sure it's a 4.44.

Sheesh, that's easy. The sun doesn't rise, Ratsun 510 hoods not withstanding.

That'd be my bad for not scrolling down the whole ad!dot son wrote:Yes, I'm sure it's a 4.44.
And it's good to know that there is another low ratio diff out there, so do you know what application this 4.44:1 is from in LSD form? Okfine mentioned 2000'ish Forester XT's, is this confirmed?
So I can assume that someone has written up a tech article on installing 510 stub shafts in this particular diff? I know there have been issues with axle spline counts and input shaft flanges, but there is a solution I assume for installing this diff in a PL510?

Re: R160 Subaru Datsun Clutch type LSD with 4.44 gears Diff
Googling "subaru forester 4.44" brings up a rash of applications. I had a diff application chart for Subaru, but I cannot find it ATM. The following may or may not be reliable:
US Forester XT MY04 TY755VH4AA 3.454 1.947 1.366 0.972 0.738 3.333 1.000 4.444 Viscous (4kgf) Open Gears as per WRX revisions
US Forester XT MY05 TY755VW5AA 3.454 1.947 1.366 0.972 0.738 3.333 1.000 4.444 Viscous (4kgf) Open
US Baja Turbo MY04 TY754VHEAA 3.454 1.947 1.366 0.972 0.738 3.333 1.000 4.444 Viscous (4kgf) Open Gears as per WRX revisions
WRT the auction diff, it looks like a 3.7 R160LSD had the R&P swapped. He's got a picture or few of the splines and it looks like the bolt-in stuff we know and love.
