Source for heater core hose

Post by obrut »

I need the long heater core hose that comes right off the heater core on the unit itself not the ones in the engine bay. My car is a 72 4 speed if that makes a difference. Anyone have a source for the hose or one that is close?

I knew I'd posted something on this years ago, and it took me about 10 minutes to remember what thread I placed it under and then finding it in that thread. What I didn't realize is how thorough I was at the time. Likely all the answers you need regarding replacement heater hoses - but here you go half way down the page;

A word of note here;

I do recall that there are two types of heat core routing - a single pass and double pass heater core, each utilizing a different hose arrangement from the heater core to the fittings on the fire wall. The Canadian cars had both types, but I know the wagons had the double pass cores and used a longer hose across the back of the heater core as a result.

It's possible that the Dayco 86121 part number will cover this application as well, but I don't know for sure. Give us your feed back with photos to see if we can solve both options if you have this type of core.

I was posting an addendum, you'd already replied :-) I see the post of what you have now.

All I did to find the alternatives above was bribe my way into my local larger auto parts store to physically compare what I had to what was needed. The results were posted to help everyone. Maybe you can do the same. It likely won't be perfect, but I'll bet you find something close that's in the correct diameter of hose.

Let us know.

I will stop at the auto parts tomorrow and see if I can find something close. I'll post pics and a part number if I find something, thanks.

I found a hose that works, the part number I used is Dayco 86122

Test fit to the heater core box, a little long on both ends so I trimmed it. I hope this helps someone else when they need this hose.

Obrut, thanks for the post followup, photos and part numbers.

I updated my part numbers post to include your new information making all replacement heater core hoses available in the same location with photos linked here half way down the page.
